I don't know if y'all remember the way they marketed Ricky Martin, but his videos were extreeeemely, overtly hetero. Anyway, seeing those men grinding by that truck in the same performance that Ricky sang to us entirely in Spanish healed something in my 41-yo soul. We're not going back. Love wins.

The fact that Bad Bunny's halftime show made white bigots angry and feel excluded is A GOOD THING. It's one of the best things about it. It's not a problem to solve. It's a solution to pursue. Bigots *should* feel excluded. We should find *more* ways to celebrate the reality of USian diversity.

Benito is a threat b/c he makes art so alluring and enjoyable you want to understand everything about it and then you end up learning about sugar and slavery and colonialism and the Taínos and Hawaii and then you probably have some thoughts of your own, and that's why art is powerful and dangerous

THEY DID IT. EVERY SENATE DEMOCRAT just voted on an amendment to DEFUND ICE (rescind the BBB slush fund that keeps ICE open during a shutdown.) This amendment failed, but it shows broad support! KEEP CALLING and make it a demand to vote for the DHS funding bill!!
👀 Every Senate Democrat + Collins and Murkowski just voted for the Bernie Sanders amendment to repeal the $75 billion in additional ICE funding under Trump’s “big beautiful bill.” The measure failed 49-51.

Georgia Fort's is chilling, and it's being overshadowed by the equally chilling arrest of Don Lemon.

A GoFundMe is being set up for Fort. In the meantime, you can support her work directly – without paying massive fundraising platform fees – through her website:

Doomers should read more history. Reading about some of the darkest chapters in US history may sound depressing, but it gave me so many examples of ordinary people fighting for what's right despite horrendous odds.

Several years ago, I bought a box of leather offcuts from a furniture company and MANY pieces would have been plenty large enough to make a beautiful wood and leather panel “FUCK ICE” sign. That’s your search term: “leather offcuts.” Just in case anyone is feeling crafty…
Trump on Mpls: "Do these people really want to have rapists and drug dealers and people from prisons and murderers, do they really want to have them in the community? It's really insurrectionists and agitators and they're paid ... everybody has a beautiful sign with brand new wood. Leather panels."

Copies of these should be put up immediately on state/city property with this added: “The enslaved people memorialized here mean more to us than the president who tried to erase them. It is our patriotic duty to read every word on these signs.”
I took this photo in November because I was both surprised to see it still up and feared it would be taken down at any moment.
