Oh cool Avi Loeb is in the Epstein files 👀
I searched the Epstein files for astronomy and astronomers, and consistent with Sean Carroll's posts about why his name is listed, it seems like Epstein was trying to rope in scientists they perceived as smart, and scientists tried to get financial backing from him. 🔭 Some examples:

The SAVE America Act would require Americans to prove their citizenship when registering to vote, mostly through a valid passport or birth certificate. It would also require a valid photo identification before voters can cast ballots, which some states already demand. https://to.pbs.org/4qJLLPq
House GOP pushes strict proof-of-citizenship requirement for voters ahead of midterm elections
The bill passed Wednesday is a Trump administration priority aimed at scrutinizing ballot access. But it faces blowback in the Senate.

But what happened in Portland outside the ICE building was evidence of yet another escalation—and a terrifying harbinger of things to come.

But before his announcement, his own regulators filed a legal brief opposing a Colorado law that would do just that.

Did you know that 2/3 of Americans are at least “somewhat worried” about global warming -- but 85% of Americans either underestimate how many others are worried, or don’t know enough to say?

This key misunderstanding tanks our sense of collective efficacy. How do we overcome it? Talk about it!

The measure of winning will not be in how we spot their harm but how we take care of each other.

The government and ICE have years of being ahead of the game and everyone who thought this was theorhetical is about to find out exactly how real it is
A Minnesota woman observing ICE agents in her car was cornered on one-way streets. An agent approached, called her by name—citing facial recognition. Days later, her Global Entry and TSA privileges were revoked, with no explanation.
