Another thing to keep in mind when people look at this is that a lot of the "charitable" giving the ultra wealthy do isn't to the sorts of organizations that ordinary folks think of as charity. It's going to foundations with sketchy track records, buildings that will bear the donor's name, etc.

We created a society that requires a car, and not having one, or the cash or support system to replace it is a death sentence. So instead of public transportation and govt funded support for the elderly, we just let them drive. It's a great system
