I always feel like I'm forgetting something if I pack for a trip and my bags aren't literally bursting at the seams. I think I have room to spare and like 1/4 of it is snacks so I'll be traveling very light on the way home.

We had a student sleep through part of a tournament and he asked our director for a letter of recommendation on the same day lmao. We’re just an extracurricular (albeit with scholarships and course credit opportunities), so they WANT to be here. Can’t imagine what they do with compulsory coursework.
An issue we're seeing at all levels of university is that many students are simply refusing to do *anything*. They aren't reading the syllabus, aren't following assignment guidelines, aren't engaging with material, ignoring deadlines. And this might seem like old news, but it truly has ramped up.

He pooped yesterday and today voluntarily so we’re starting to normalize again. He still doesn’t have a huge appetite but his energy levels are good, still into treats, still drinking water, so, my worry continues to abate
OMG he pooped again, and 1) I didn't make him do it this time; 2) this is the shortest interval between poops since the whole debacle began. Forever grateful to the vet who saw him and suggested a relatively inexpensive dietary change instead of $100 arthritis shots.

Every year I think “I need to take shower before I cook” and then I just gradually start cooking and then I’m standing in the middle covered in sweat from the heat of the oven and the dishwasher and I’m thanking the HELL out of my adhd that I didn’t shower first

I think I'm finally getting the "grief isn't linear" thing because it being cold and dark is stirring up memories of when Nala really started heading downhill at the end of the holidays last year, and the weeks of anticipatory grief I was going through where I was sobbing so hard I almost puked.

In today's canned vegetable experiment, I am going to try canned beets. I just had a regular beet (roasted a while ago, frozen, thawed, sliced, and sauteed) and after all that cooking, they still had a pretty solid texture, so I'm hoping canned beets aren't just mush.

Had a thought, might go down this rabbit hole - adding a drop of liquid smoke to a pot of coffee? Which I would drink with either sweet cream or vanilla creamer
