Sheeeeeeeeit. Rip to a legend
An absolutely wonderful, versatile, powerful and powerfully funny actor who enlivened everything he was in, and a huge loss. I'm not going to say the word, but we're all thinking it in his honor. RIP Isiah Whitlock. deadline.com/2025/12/isia...

Heated Rivalry is noneligible for the Emmys. You know what else was noneligible? That's right: The Mona Lisa. I think that says a lot about what we consider important

This is true and I was the only one on set excited about it (and playing the song on my phone to blank stares)
Just watched the new Knives Out and I think it's really important you know that the scene in the Seminary's Gym is filmed in the same place Rick Astley filmed the music video for Never Gonna Give You Up.

I saw the window tracery and immediately made my friends pause the film so I could tell them.

I’ve lived all over this country, and this world, and now I’m back home again and at the end of it all I’ve learned one thing: You only have one home town.

I was born here, I’ll be buried here. If I should die, think only this of me: there is some corner of a foreign field that is forever St Louis.

Never once in my life did I ever think I was the kind of person who could or would go to Hawaii. But if you ever have the chance to make it happen, I hope you do. You deserve it.

I’m anti soup and I don’t care who knows it.

Soup becomes better by running away from itself.

Oh it was good soup, it had a lot of stuff in it.

Soup becomes stew becomes chili becomes regular food you chew like a grown up that isn’t floating in dirty bath water.
The only time I think soup is an acceptable dinner option is when I’m sick. Other than that, strictly a lunch option. I will not be taking questions at this time 😂

An essential development over the past decade-plus is that the ignorant went from feeling chastened when their ignorance was revealed to banding together and deciding that, actually, they were right. They might disagree at times, but they agreed that ignorance itself was an indicator of trust.

Gentlemen,

… if you look to our left, you will see that there is no one there. Because we are the end of the line. The Union army stops here. We are the flank.

Do you understand?

We cannot retreat. We cannot withdraw. We are going to have to be stubborn, today.

Been a while since I flogged a book, but if you've been infuriated or intrigued by some of the arguments here recently about decadence and resentment and envy and crazy voter behavior, I wrote a book about them.

There’s not many who can talk about joy and meaning in our modern age who don’t make me cringe and who I can believe and find solace in.

John Oliver is one. The others… Phil Klay. John Green. Pope Frank before he died. My high school English teacher Steve Missey…

The days of Chicago Pope reminded why I’m glad to be online, why posting, being a poster, being in community with all you other online freaks is, or at least can be, good.

This instant, massive connectivity we share is capable of harnessing incredible creativity and energy, if it’s fed good inputs.
whatever 2026 holds i don't think anything next year will be funnier than Chicago Pope. 2025 was overall a huge stinker but Chicago Pope was an all time great B-plot

Art owes no duty to anyone or anything besides Truth.
December 28, 2025 at 5:16 AM
An artist has no duty to the public

A duty is an obligation. An obligation implies a right, something owed. Failure to provide carries liability

To imply an artist has a right to anything but truth and themselves is perverse, as is an implication that anyone has a right to an artist’s work.
This is the logical and inevitable conclusion of the last decade of elite media "free speech" discourse.
