Listening to CBC re: Granville Island & its desire to revitalize. (problem: too many cars)
Simply copy North Van's Lonsdale Quay: car-free, plenty of free activities for kiddies, market, food, shopping, excellent transit connections, music. It's a simple formula.

I think Ken Sim and his time on council has been a waste of everyone’s time.
Wow, what a cynical thing for our mayor to say after all the Vancouverites came together to voice concerns over his budget

Imagine removing baby-changing tables to fund the $50M Sim needs for the Police.
Listening to Vancouver Council budget discussion in the background this morning. In response to a question from @seanorr.bsky.social about where they'll be retracting from the city just said they're planning to REMOVE baby changing tables and menstrual product dispensers to save costs. Shameful.

Ken Sim's austerity budget is so severe that they're going to be REMOVING EXISTING BABY CHANGING TABLES

Vancouver, is this really who we are?

The timing of this video as I’m reflecting on the revolt at City Council against Sim’s budget cuts is just perfect.

Can’t wait to vote against all of ABC.

Nooo!! No Carney, no!
Mark Carney is about to announce more of his “elbows up” major projects.

But under the surface, one that’s being sold as an Indigenous-led LNG project is actually — spoiler — American as hell.

That’s not even the worst part!

2025: ABC refuses to use EHT money for its intended purpose, putting 81 affordable homes for women and children at risk

What an astonishing decision by Ken Sim and ABC.

For those who ask “how did [insert authoritarian regime here] get into power? Why didn’t anyone oppose them? Why didn’t anyone do anything?”

Well, we’re seeing that unfold in front of our eyes.

Christine Boyle as Minister of housing is such an incredible outcome for her. I’m thrilled to see her in that role.

What a delicious outcome of events
In 2023 Ken Sim filed multiple code of conduct complaints against opposition councillor Christine Boyle, costing her thousands of dollars in legal fees

Now, Boyle is the Minster of Municipal Affairs and Housing, and is the main government point person for everything Sim wants

Fact of the day:

We’re currently debating a new bike-share program in Victoria.

City staff noted that “serious cycling accidents and fatalities are down 37% since 2017,” when we began building out our AAA bike lane network. We now have 45 km of protected lanes.

Cycling infrastructure = safety.

There is a direct correlation between housing prices and how vibrant a city is. This is also true of Vancouver.

Not an urbanist. Just want to live in a walkable neighbourhood, with enough housing, transit, and amenities for all that need it.

Wait…

I worked at an Ottawa polling station from 8am - 11pm.
We helped people vote for their first time or 50th+ time (federal, provincial, municipal).
Everyone was polite.
No protesters. No lawyers.
We did everything possible & within the law so everyone who wanted to could vote.
Democracy is precious!
