3 hockey takes tonight:
1. Nobody misses Russia at Olympics. Sure, they have skill, but there's this niggling problem with war crimes.
2. Gordie Howe would have his elbows up over that bridge opening delay.
3. China won't cancel the Stanley Cup, they'll come up with a long term plan for winning it.

"Why should Russian and Belarussian athletes be excluded from sports events? The war isn't their fault!"

Meanwhile some other athletes have been excluded from playing sports--forever!
Russia has killed over 650 Ukrainian athletes and destroyed at least 15 Olympic training bases.

Feeling some "Canadian Rage" this morning? I hear you. You don't have to be Canadian to share this need to no longer be nice. Principled, I hope, but not necessarily nice or cautious.

From my recently-released Standing with Underdogs:

We viewed it last week at our local theatre. Very moving. The film depicts ordinary people in extraordinary times, in this case Russians in a faraway small city. A very few speak out. A growing number die in a pointless war. A very large number drink the Kool Aid because they are afraid to object.
Apologies if you're outside the UK, because this will be geoblocked (even with almost all VPNs), but great news for those who can access it.

Oscar-nominated for best documentary, "Mr Nobody Against Putin" is available free.

I've never been to Minnesota, but I've come to love you.
May I visit once it's safe to cross the border and not have my phone confiscated and entire social media history and contacts copied to be used against me? (Yes, I understand that's federal.)

The people of Ukraine are going through unimaginable suffering and struggle.
The power outages and freezing conditions in Ukraine right now are insane. Greenland news and war “coverage fatigue” not giving it the presence in headlines it deserves. The humanitarian impact is absolutely staggering.

If you agree Middle Powers must stand together & not bow down to global bullies, you can do so in a concrete way right now. Do something for Ukraine.

Anything. Call an elected representative, donate to medical & humanitarians orgs active there.

Kyiv remains in darkness amid ongoing blackouts.

Refusing to stay in dark homes, neighbors gather outside for a picnic. Wrapped in coats, they turn a cold night into a moment of quiet solidarity.

Under a sky without city lights, people find warmth—even when light is gone.
