I got my gallbladder out at the end of September.

And this doesn't include the anesthesiologist, who billed his services separately from the hospital and for my portion that was another almost $700.

Making my holiday movie girl's nights plan & the ONE Hallmark channel Hanukkah movie sounds like a supercessionist piece of trash called "Oy to the World"

Nothing's going to beat 2023's flawless Groundhog Day inspired "Round & Round" but COME ON. At least TRY.

Temu Batman Villain and proud Richard Nixon tattoo afficionado Roger Stone is launching a menswear line? Where's it gonna be sold, Spirit Halloween?
if someone is willing to pay for the products, i'd be willing to purchase these items, deconstruct them, and give them to expert tailors, shoemakers, and craftspeople for review. i will also see if i can track down the factories. i would be interested to know if these items are made in the US

The level of support that my neighbors are showing for the victims of this is heartening, and I'm trying to focus on that more than the folks who say these people deserve to be treated this way.

I'm from a rather small town at the southern end of the Willamette Valley. I live in Portland now, in a neighborhood about 30 minutes away from where the ICE shit is going down.

People back home are worried about me being "so close" to the ICE facility. I've never seen them in my neighborhood...

When my grandmother was slipping into dementia, we put nametags on the photographs that had hung in her home for decades. Her parents, children, late husband, grand & great-grand & great-great grand children. All labeled.

Just saying, I am reminded of that today, for some reason.

I run Portland Burrito Brigade, every month we make a few hundred burritos for people who are homeless, food insecure or just hungry. We're volunteer managed and powered by donations. If you feel so inclined, our cost per meal is about $1, donations of any size make a big difference! bit.ly/4n05nN0

Would be REAAAALLY interesting to know if these layoffs (and the corresponding ones at Paramount under Ellison, for that matter) comply with NY's WARN Act, since Weiss hasn't been in charge for 90 days yet...

Mt. Hood Community College also has a free food pantry that students can access once per week (valid MHCC student ID required, and it's a "shopping style" pantry - you pick what you want & there's no limit on what/how much you can take on any given day).

Someone has put together a VERY thorough list of resources for people in the Portland area who need food. For those who have enough to share, please consider putting your time and/or money somewhere. For those who need help, here are places to get it.

Sometimes, even now, in the midst of ::waves arms generally::, the internet does something amazing and good and kind, because PEOPLE make up the internet, and PEOPLE remain capable of great acts of kindness.
I am so flabbergasted & tearful & grateful & JUST REALLY EMOTIONAL over everything that’s happened around this so-special pup since this saga started on…good god, how was it only Wednesday morning?

That it has meant as much to so many of you fills me up to the brim.

I've called my mother's bestie Joann, my godmother, "Aunt Joann" my entire goddamn life. My parents also had friends who were Auntie & Uncle. My dad's sister's husband wasn't given the title "Uncle" before his name until I was 10. The fuckin' attempt at a gotcha here is infuriating & racist & gross.
In a bit of a tense moment, one of the La Mega co-hosts presses Mamdani on why he "lied" about his "aunt" having been scared to ride the subway after 9/11 while wearing a hijab.

Mamdani says it was "not a lie" because he refers to his father's cousin as his "aunt."

It seems to me, who knows an avg. of 3.27 facts about any given sport, that "letting a game run past the time that a concert would be allowed to go" is unreasonable. Let the stickball men go home & resume the contest tomorrow, after everyone's had a good night's sleep, or just call it a tie.

My senior year of high school, the winter show was The Hobbit. Enough of the football team had crushes on the usual Theater Girls (myself included) that about 1/2 the cast was linemen. Poor Mr. Hummel, having to change everything about how he directed because of that cast.
