This means you can get 'Imperial Nostalgia', which I wrote, for less than a tenner! That works out at about 0.014p per word, which is the kind of bargain only a fool would miss: manchesteruniversitypress.co.uk/9781526146205/

Oh sorry, I haven’t been online that much tonight, I’ve been forced to help organize a safety patrol at my kid’s daycare, because ICE stopped by today.

The woman killed by ICE today was a poet. She won the 2020 Academy of American Poets, University & College Poetry Prize at Old Dominion University.

(And this is Renee from confirmed socials- a photo of a different woman with red lipstick is going around, but that was a classmate.)

What did your family do in the General Strike? For our first annual print edition, Red Pepper will be covering the centenary of 1926 and we want to include some personal experience alongside the history. Email editors@redpepper.org.uk with your story.

I dunno about you motherfuckers but in 2k26 I wanna see more luminous reflections on families (unchosen and chosen), on the body, on water and healing, on vulnerability and care and vulnerability *as* care, and if I don't get them or they aren't luminous enough I will take two shits and die

Nah, he's perfectly at home where he is, & there's no need to flatten the realities of 14thc Spain (an unfortunate choice, given Miller's Jewish) or early 20thc Britain (in a giant ongoing crisis of conscience & confidence about empire) to understand the historical continuities of what he's about
Miller’s statements on Greenland is part of the same worldview as his statements on immigration: he sees the world through the lens of a monarch whose priorities are expansion, conquest, and extraction. He’d be much more at home in 1500s Spain or early 1900s Britain.
Joint European statement on Greenland. They moved quickly after Miller’s comments about annexation last night.

this is very funny and very good, god bless all at @bashback.bsky.social
The Free Speech Union commissioned a "security" report on us, so we tested their security. Turns out - it sucks.

We've now published the names of everyone who has donated to a FSU fundraiser, along with how much they gave and to which campaign.

[Townes Van Zandt voice] the butter mines are closing and grandpaw's got nothin for his years of toil but popcorn lung and a foreclosure notice on his gingerbread shack
Here are some things I have learnt today:

Artificial butter flavouring is mostly a chemical compound called diacetyl which, inhaled in large amounts, causes a disease called "popcorn lung".

tfw the world's going to be fed into a blender by a bunch of fucking idiot babies who are still annoyed that storybooks won't talk back to them
Re books: books and literature are useful for information, but they aren't interactive and dialogic. They don't fulfil the same function that I'm referring to.

Today, thoughts inevitably turn to a man whose life and death will always be associated with this time of year – a man whose purity of heart and good works alike contain, I think, the true spirit of the season.
On the true meaning of Christmas
Some notes on the man who to me represents the spirit of the season.
