Are there proposals around moving DOJ out of the executive branch?

Obviously, it’s time to move past the pinky swear era of law enforcement.
This line in the NYT:

“.. the near-complete breakdown of the Justice Department’s traditional independence to prosecute cases based on facts and the law, as opposed to presidential fiat.”

made a similar point on the opinions podcast this week in response to the idea that epstein is a dead end. not only are actual voters interested in this but it divides the gop and puts pressure on the president. it would be political malpractice to treat it as a sideshow
The usual suspects are telling Dems that Epstein won’t win elections, get back to “affordability” and I think my head might explode. www.offmessage.net/p/force-a-re...

“Trump looks out for himself at our expense” is not that complicated
I don’t understand why Dems have to choose? “Trump is a corrupt billionaire pedo whose self-serving policies have made your life more expensive” is not that hard of a message imo

81 years ago, FDR proposed a second Bill of Rights to guarantee every American the right to employment, healthcare, education, housing, and a living income. His words are as relevant now as they were then. Watch.

Democrats have to stop bailing out Republicans from facing the consequences of their own policies. And yeah, that means they have to stop sparing voters from experiencing what GOP government truly means.

Every time Dems step in, it only emboldens the GOP & they make it even worse the next time.
So Democrats get:

1. A CR that will prevent the GOP from facing the wrath of Americans for a shutdown over the holidays

2. A coupon for one (1) meaningless ACA vote that will fail

3. An end to the illegal RIF/SNAP moves that are already before the courts

Those all seem like wins for the GOP.

“Kavanaugh stops” is a tremendous term term for cops racially profiling people and someone should start a crowdfunding effort to pay a bunch of SEC sorority influencers to popularize it on TikTok. We must fight fire with devastating trending topics slate.com/news-and-pol...
There’s a New Lawsuit Against “Kavanaugh Stops.” It’s Absolutely Devastating.
These detentions, far from the “brief” inconvenience the justice described, are often lengthy, violent, and dangerous.

It is the only way forward. Step away from the consultants Ds. Step away from
My general belief is that Dems need to spend more time thinking about what they believe and less about what they think some imaginary swing voters want them to believe.

Political strategy will stem from an authentic set of beliefs.
This was revealing. Worth reading. The basic demand is that Coates spend less time thinking/writing his true feelings and more time playing political strategist. Klein asks him over and over him to do Dem strategy; he says no, over and over. www.nytimes.com/2025/09/28/o...

Here’s what Repubs have said to Dems:

‘We control the WH, the Senate and the House. And so we drafted a spending bill with what WE want, we did it on our own, we didn’t give 2 fucks about what YOU think or want, so fuck off!’

But a shutdown will be DEMS fault??

Democrats should never vote to fund a government that's waging war on its own citizens and firing officials *because* they insist on following court orders instead of breaking the law. Let Senate Republicans nuke the filibuster. None of this is normal and it shouldn't be treated as such.

If rebalancing and reforming this MAGA #SCOTUS is not at the top of the agenda of every Democratic candidates running for federal offices (including the big one) - not sure what are we even doing.

And it needs to be more than an issue page - they need to be campaigning on it.
the question to ask the republican majority on the court is “what CAN’T trump do?”

America is bailing out Argentina, while Argentine farmers sell soybeans to China instead of American farmers, thereby bankrupting them, which is why America also have to bail out American farmers.

If this is considered winning, I fear what losing looks like.

I hope the majority realizes you can't win over the right wing with civility or the old ways. Doesn't work. Its a dangerous, violent, hypocritical cult without shame.

They want power by any illegal means necessary.

Choose your fighters accordingly. The current Dem leadership ain't it.

Democrats need to be out there threatening the people doing the Trump's illegal bidding with arrest and prosecution after Trump is out of power. Democratic governors need to declare any federal worker who breaks state and local laws can be arrested and prosecuted. Make these MAGA drones afraid.

Someone, anyone, take the konch and forcefully respond to JD Vance and Stephen Miller's promise to declare war against America.

Speak up now. Press conference today.

It's long past time for people to fully accept that the right simply does not care about being called hypocrites. To them hypocrisy is a weapon to be used against their enemies who feel embarrassed if they are revealed to be inconsistent. They feel no such shame themselves.

EARHARDT: We have radicals on the right as well. How do we fix this country?

TRUMP: I'll tell you something that's gonna get me in trouble but I couldn't care less. The radicals on the right oftentimes are radical because they don't want to see crime. The radicals on the left are the problem.

The U.S. government has become a neofascist regime run by a sociopath.

Keeping it funded now is to participate in the most atrocious abuse of power in U.S. history.

So I for one have decided that the best route is to shut the whole thing down.

The birthday book is clear: there was a cabal of rich, powerful people (mostly men) whose fondest memories with Jeffrey Epstein involved trafficking young girls for sex—trading them like baseball cards—and one of them is the current American president. You’re cool with this or you’re not. That’s it.

This should be non-negotiable at this point
Senate Democrats: DO NOT FUND the government when the current continuing resolution expires at the end of the month. SHUT IT DOWN unless DC is funded, the troops are withdrawn from our cities, elections are protected, the Epstein files are released in full... SHUT IT DOWN.
