Quite a bit of research on how tourists/ignorant eyes think bleached white (ie often dead/dying) reefs are “prettier”
Reminds me of this August 2015 Tweet from Rupert Murdoch opining that the Great Barrier Reef (GBR) looked fine to him (at a time of debate about the prospect of a coral bleaching event that summer)

Mass bleaching events since Aug 2015 affecting the GBR: 2016, 2017, 2020, 2022, 2024 and 2025.

Just in case you missed this, this was the first week back in Parliament. It’s revealing to see what motivates @albomp.bsky.social’s government to act. The PM has released yet another statement today about Israel, but again no actual sanctions.

The last panel was harrowing to draw. #auspol

If the media were better they wouldn’t be saying “your plan is great Ken”.
They’d be asking if “nature positive” actually means anything. And have offsets worked literally anywhere? And why try to privatise conservation efforts rather than simply funding them?
And what are your interests, Ken?

Public education is public health.

"Public education has many virtues, the chief one being providing the tools of learning at no cost to families. But another of its traits is the way it breaks down homogeny, forcing children to be in a community with others unlike them."
why destroy the department of education?

would you believe there's a creepy evangelical organization operating in broad daylight but under the radar whose meteoric rise goes a long way towards explaining it?
