Atlantis megathread index thread!

1. Maurice Doreal, David Icke and Lizard People: bsky.app/profile/part...
First up, I found the origin of David Icke's Lizard People theory.

At some point between 1930 and 1938 (sources differ) a Californian guru named Maurice Doreal (really Claude Doggins from Arkansas) published The Emerald Tablets of Thoth the Atlantean.

Strap in. 2/

I do like the Kevin Smith He-Man though, and I was never a fan as a kid. But that doesn't matter because I belong to Gen X and my casual interest will be shoved down the throats of younger generations who have even less money, probably til I die!

A piece about Transformers, or why stealing media for kids, giving them to adults and torturing toys to death when you're at it is a terrible idea.

I truly honestly thought everyone knew this stuff.

Never a bad time to remind people though.

Stay especially for the quote from the eminent biologist that amounts to "Genes aren't selfish, Richard."
There is a story here that deserves to be told in its entirety, just for its core literary depiction of what, exactly, Richard Dawkins is.
To add to this, Richard Dawkins (biologist). Complaining about Rebecca Watson. www.justice.gov/epstein/file...

HELLO EVERYONE

it's been a while

but I'm still here

and I want to be thankful

for the people who are still my friends

NOT LIKE THE REST OF YOU

and the stuff they said was bad,

really bad,

but it's all lies,

none of it's true

none of it

also I have a book out

Come for an analysis of a film where the hero is a giant, angry, fire-breathing, flying turtle, stay for the bit where I compare Gamera and Godzilla to Cuthbert the Caterpillar and Colin the Caterpillar.

Found the show House of David. Was interested to write about it because, you know, adapted religious texts, cultural appropriation, political subtext, all that stuff.

It's not good. But then I found the episode where the pre-credits scene was entirely done in AI slop.

Nope. Nope. Nope.

Writing about the Gamera movies and using the analogy of British supermarket caterpillar cakes to explain the relationship of Gamera with Godzilla

Where's the lie

On a personal note, I'm pushing this. It's something I'm depending on more than ever rn.

Yes, a hundred times yes.
Misfits. First three seasons were 😘👌 but even Joe Gilgun couldn't carry the remaining two on his own.
Name a TV show that overstayed it's welcome

They're convinced we're all NPCs because they are actually mostly NPCs.

They think we're all groomers because they hate children and want to marry teenagers.

They don’t believe people can organise without being paid, because they get paid to turn up.

They tell on themselves.

Yes. For the love of God yes.
okay, it's time to shitcan the overhead shot following a rural road surrounded by forest in horror movies

I just flushed out an AI bot on a FB post with four words. It was beautiful.

Here are some things that I have observed:

Honoured to have in past years known some of the people who made the un-eradication of Measles possible, nay, inevitable.

Who could have guessed that they'd all wind up hardline TERFs?

Apart from me obviously.
January 27, 2026 at 9:20 AM
There was a whole clique of mums at my kids' primary school who worked very hard to make this happen.

Of course, they're all hardline TERFs now.

New post on my Patreon, free for everyone, where I look at the Rambo film that isn't like the others, and discuss the things it brings up, like law enforcement brutality, failed masculinity. Have things changed in 44 years?

I normally refrain from commenting on international geopolitics because unlike my invariably excellent* media takes, my political takes are not informed or well thought out.

Great God though, this world is terrifying right now. That's all. That's the thought.

No, I want good movies to be only for a secretive intellectual elite who saw past the Veil of Maia to the true nature of reality. The rest of you deserve Fantastic 4: First Steps and Netflix tax write-offs.
The whole idea that there's this category of great art that no one really likes and you only watch it because you have to is a criminal conspiracy to drive people away from experiencing art.
People who think Kurosawa is “homework cinema” need to be slapped around a bit.

so cool that when Kurosawa made Seven Samurai, he was like, "What if a movie absolutely ripped for three-and-a-half hours straight?"

Y'all did you know that YOJIMBO is so good it actually extends your life by a full year?

You literally can't die any sooner because your brain goes "Hold up, before we shut this down I want to think about YOJIMBO a little more."

Get outta here with that "homework cinema" nonsense.

My son is encouraging me to watch Stranger Things Season 5 and I got two and a half episodes in and I can't take any more of this.

I have caught myself begging the screen out loud for everyone to stop explaining what's literally on the screen to each other EVERY FIVE SECONDS.

100% agree, no quibbles
The Green Knight was my last Christmas watch for 2025, and my gosh, I find that movie thrilling and profound. I think it might have one of my favorite ending passages in film history??
