I see turkey's going to be ridiculously expensive this November.
I'm thinking maybe I'll make vegetarian Gobbleritos, replacing the turkey with Quorn Meatless "Turkey" and the gravy with one of the many "vegetarian brown gravy" packets out there.
Gobbleritos, for the uninitiated:

I know that, between having pet birds and having severe (like, my bronchial tubes close up) cat allergies, I can't have a cat, but boy do I wish I could have a cat.

A new report last week stated that the average age for a first time home owner is now 40. Life expectancy in the US in 2023 was 78.39 years.
A 50 year mortgage means no average person would own their homes ever. It turns homes into direct rentals from the bank even more than they already are.

ERISA won't save you. The ACA market entering a death spiral will cause massive failures in the health care delivery system. Even more hospitals will close. Rural clinics will go under. Entire practices will be sold to venture capital.
Anyway a great way to radicalize people is for them to realize that you just abandoned their chance at being able to access and afford health care because you didn’t like waiting in line at the airport.

Even if you have AMAZING employer insurance and will never leave your job and they keep costs down or fully fund it...no employer health insurance can save you from hospital/clinic/supplier/etc closures caused by falling off a cliff on Medicaid, Medicaid, and private insurance reimbursement.
Also if you get insurance through your employer and are sighing a deep breath of relief (while obviously still giving a shit about this issue)
understand your insurance through your employer can go up as well, and coverage offered lessened.
And if you lose your job and can't quickly find another

American politics makes a lot more sense when you realize that the GOP is afraid of pissing off the GOP base, and the Dems are afraid of pissing off the GOP base, but neither party is afraid of pissing off the Dem base.

No, let's pause there. You don't understand. My question isn't "how do I use this library provider's interface".
My questions include, but are not limited to, "for what conceivable reason would people possibly prefer this interface?", "who hurt them?", and "how do we send them help?".

And what of the energy we lose when people who would be fighting alongside us die from preventable causes because they can no longer afford their health care?
But there are real dangers out there that must be fought; and energy spent fighting each other is energy lost to that bigger fight.

Yes. Yes, of course they were.
And if you don't understand that, I'm sorry but my replies aren't the place for you — you need remedial moral education and I don't have the patience today.

People think there’s such a thing as a “good illness” because of the puritanical obsession with suffering. If you do it and come out the other side, you must be chill with god, yeah?
Orrrr disease has no inherent morality and abled people need to let go of comforting ableist narratives. A thought.

This is true in PA too. If you want to primary Fetterman (amd i know you do!), it's better to stay registered as a Democrat. I'm pissed too, but changing to an Independent is not helpful at this point.
Hey, a lot of people are talking about changing affiliation from Democratic to Independent.
Let me tell you why you shouldn’t do that in Colorado.
One of the main ways to get a primary challenge candidate on a ballot is to caucus for your party. You need to be registered as a Dem to caucus.
