someone tell the California ACLU who is disproportionately more likely to be killed in traffic accidents including those involving people under the influence
The California ACLU is staunchly opposed to the ignition interlock device program and is a big reason that it has not been expanded. Despite the fact that California heavily subsidizes the cost for low-income drunk drivers, the ACLU says that the program is a form of "racialized wealth extraction."

A government-sanctioned "truth arbiter" will soon arrive at CBS. Their role will be to ensure that journalists do not criticize this Administration or express views that conflict with its agenda.

This is a betrayal—not just of journalistic independence, but of the public trust. 🧵

the fraction of parents reading to their 0-4 year old kids frequently has apparently fallen by 23 POINTS since 2012 www.theguardian.com/books/2025/a...

easy fix here: ban move-in fees
From the Editorial Board:

Security deposits have gone the way of the paper lease. In their place have arisen “move-in fees,” which are cash payments of up to $1,000 demanded by landlords before tenants move in.
Editorial: Security deposits for renters are fairer than exploding move-in fees
Security deposit regulations overreached. So now Chicago is stuck with worse “move-in fees.”

revenge campaign against the american people
So just to recap, the Transportation Secretary is scared shitless of public transport. The Education Secretary is being sued for enabling child sex abuse. The Health Secretary is bringing back measles. And the Defense Secretary is texting classified war plans to the editor in chief of the Atlantic
That would be Secretary of Education Linda McMahon who's being sued for aiding and abetting systemic child molestation, just to be clear

union workers aren't working class, too many job protections!
going by salary vs. wage, actual earnings, degree of professionalization, job protections, or degree of education or training, teachers are middle-class. very hard for me to see any criterion other than "literally works at all" by which teachers are working-class

Wow—15 international students at the University of Central Florida have had their visas revoked as a result of the school's signed partnership with ICE. One was detained. Literally handed over to immigration cops by their own university. Despicable.

Dear Dems: Polling shows only *generalized* approval of Trump on immigration, but broad opposition to the lawless specifics. If you don't engage on Abrego Garcia and other illegal kidnappings, you only *help* Trump subsume all that under "keeping out illegals."

The only appropriate response to this is impeachment and removal from office. Every moment the political press spends spinning out theories about 2026 and immigration polling is a minute they are not spending asking Republicans in Congress about their plans to enforce the rule of law
