i like to think of the kitchen as the “food zone,” because it’s where you store your food, it’s where you cook your food, and depending on your layout it might be where you eat your food. at first i was annoyed that this wasn’t getting any engagement but then i realized that i hadn’t posted it yet

You do have to be impressed by this man’s unwavering dedication to never knowing or hearing anything about anything.
Q: Rep. Jayapal accused the DOJ of tracking her search history. Is that appropriate conduct?

MIKE JOHNSON: I don't know anything about that

Q: Bondi had a piece of paper with Jayapal's search history

JOHNSON: I don't know anything about that but it would be inappropriate if it happened

As Bondi launched into various tirades against lawmakers, photojournalists managed to snag a picture of her notes, showing that the Justice Department has been tracking the search history of lawmakers who are combing through the unredacted Epstein files.

Bondi’s notes at a House hearing included the search history of a lawmaker who has been reviewing the Epstein files.

I hate to be like this but death is too good for the monsters who did this
Some children in Dilley were so distraught they cut themselves or talked about suicide, parents told ProPublica.

They said kids lost their appetites after finding worms and mold on their food, had trouble sleeping, and were constantly sick.
The Kids Trump Sent to ICE’s Dilley Detention Center
ProPublica went inside the immigrant detention center for families in Dilley, Texas. Children held there told us about the anguish of being ripped from their lives in the United States and the fear of...

This is becoming my generalizable heuristics for whether or not to assume something is a conspiracy theory or a real conspiracy.
When you dig deeper around mysteriously successful figures you generally find that rather than being incomprehensibly brilliant masters of the universe, they actually just lied a bunch and committed a bunch of crimes that no one wanted to look too hard at

This is actually the key to the whole thing. Democrats don’t need a strategy to win the next election. Thermostatic opinion and the Trump administration being psychopaths will take care of that. They need a philosophy of government that will win them the election after that.
Not going any deeper about the article that concludes with "thermostatic opinion has made all this travel and writing to complain about Dems pointless, but I did it so I had put something out."

"will you vote for newsom in the general" is designed to undermine the left opposition to him *in the primary.* it's meant to show that the left can be ignored because they'll come around or that they can be ignored because they're a lost cause. the mission *now* is to make newsom lose the primary.
democratic primary voters keep fucking up and we're trying to get ahead of it this time by letting them know that newsom isn't electable

I heard Tracy Chapman’s Fast Car in a public place yesterday and I thought “this is what Michael Hobbes wants to take away” and I think I need to log off of social media for a while.
This technology already exists and is widely used. It doesn't involve 'government surveillance' and would not allow ICE or any other government agency to stop individual cars.

Just say you think thousands of kids dying every year is worth it so you can speed!

Speed Limiters Now Mandatory in All New EU Cars
Intelligent Speed Assist (ISA) isn't an ironclad speeding prevention system, but could be just annoying enough to spark a backlash.

Also not to endorse, like, the regular police, but finding gang members and terrorists is their job.
Probably an inflated number anyway (ahem, "suspected") but this is precisely the result guaranteed by Stephen Miller's quotas. Finding gang members / terrorists is hard, and there aren't many.

But grabbing green card holders & asylum seekers at court hearings & schools is super easy.
A stunning detail the ICE chief shared in this hearing that was supposed to be a brag, except it isn't: ICE has arrested 379,000 people between Jan. 2025-Jan. 2026 -- but only 8,700 were suspected gang members or known suspected terrorists.

That's 2%! www.huffpost.com/entry/latest...

What this man is describing would seem to constitute crimes against humanity under international law. Other governments could and should contest the abuses he’s describing the U.S. government committing against migrants.
“It’s just a horrible, horrible, horrible place,” he said of his detention camp. “I’m not in fear of the other inmates. I’m afraid of the staff. They’re capable of anything.”
