I don’t have a description because I have not decided whether or not to commit to being a Guster fan account.
I saw someone a few days ago on threads say “sleep training is rooted in white supremacy, but y’all are not ready to have that conversation” and I said “you know what, you’re right. I might not be ready to have that conversation”

What this man is describing would seem to constitute crimes against humanity under international law. Other governments could and should contest the abuses he’s describing the U.S. government committing against migrants.
“It’s just a horrible, horrible, horrible place,” he said of his detention camp. “I’m not in fear of the other inmates. I’m afraid of the staff. They’re capable of anything.”

Rep. Delia Ramirez to DHS officials: "I have as much respect for you as I do for the last white men who put on masks to terrorize communities of color. I have no respect for the inheritors of the Klanhood and the slave patrol. Those activities were criminal and so are yours."

US Olympic Curling Team member speaks out against ICE:

"I'm proud to represent Team USA. But we'd be remiss if we didn't mention what's going on in Minnesota and what a tough time it's been. What's happening is wrong. There's no shades of gray."

When you're a GOP cabinet member and John Freaking Kennedy (R-don't tell anyone I went to Oxford) humiliates you in public you know you done effed up.
KENNEDY: The Census Bureau is under your jurisdiction & responsible for defining what it means to be poor, is that right?

LUTNICK: I don't know

K: Well you need to look, bc it does. What's the % of Americans who live below poverty level?

L: I don't know

K: It's around 11%. It's been constant

HOOOOOO boy.

Rep. LaMonica McIver (D-N.J.): "Do you consider yourself a religious man?"

Lyons: "Yes ma'am."

McIver: "How do you think Judgement Day will work for you with so much blood on your hands?"

"Do you think you're going to hell, Mr. Lyons?"

This is the 38th time that the U.S. military has unlawfully killed civilians on the orders of Pete Hegseth and Donald Trump. At least 130 people — never charged with crimes, their identities unknown to their executioners — are now dead.

I’m not an expert on Japanese politics but this seems… bad
How fascist is Sanae Takaichi, you ask?

She wrote the endorsement of a book about how Hitler's Nazi Party gamed the Weimar electoral system to seize power, and still won a supermajority in the National Diet for the first time since the Yanks dropped two atomic bombs

(this expose was from 2014!)

It would be extremely funny/satisfying/the correct thing to do for Democrats to take back congress and immediately impeach, like 5 or 6 cabinet secretaries.

The way to understand this, I think, is that everybody knows that when Trump or Vance says "illegals" he's not talking about legal status, but about social desirability, and so people think that that distinction goes both ways.
These people are just crazy. Trump gets up and says "MASS DEPORTATIONS MASS DEPORTATIONS MASS DEPORTATIONS" and they're like "he probably means a path to legal status for deserving immigrants"

Another fun aspect of the dynamic is that the current system of devolved powers was developed in the Blair-era with big Labour majorities in Westminster and Holyrood and it turned out that the whole system doesn’t work as well when the Tories and SNP are in power in each place.
i do not wish to denigrate scotland but i think most ppl outside the UK think of england and scotland as basically the same category of thing w/in the UK and i think it is difficult to understand the dynamics if u don't know that scotland's population is like 60% of london's. not england, london's
I actually find it extremely unfunny that UK Labour can just shrug and go "who even are you" at the Scottish Labour leader calling for the Prime Minister to go.

tbf i strongly believe consumer printers are more complex than human brains
Recently wife and I stunlocked a guy who works in the bleeding edge of AI (San Francisco) and asked him if, instead of putting AGI in a brain implant, he can just start with a consumer printer that works reliably. Genuinely he did not know what to say.

I was saying this when there was a “where’s the Democratic Stephen Miller?” take a few months ago. Miller is clearly a symptom of the GOP’s weaknesses not a cause of its strength.
The forces that make Trump impervious to internal correction within the GOP are going to create huge obstacles to the party winning elections and governing for a generation.
The tragedy of today's GOP is that they have purged anyone inclined to independence and leadership. Those who are left chose to climb into the back seat, and now they're lost. But they're finally yelling at the driver.

I'm hardly the first person to note this, but it's enormously instructive that our President and his followers saw the message "THE ONLY THING MORE POWERFUL THAN HATE IS LOVE" and understood it, correctly, as an attack on them
