This screenshot is from an article in the Times that's highly misleading and written by a rail opponent. SNCF's proposal bypassed Central Valley cities which was never going to be politically tenable

When will JTA finally give up this boondoggle? Autonomous pods are not a transit solution and will never replace good bus service and rail.
We’re excited to welcome HOLON with open arms to Jacksonville. Our city will soon be home to the nation’s first production plant for purpose-built autonomous electric shuttles. (1/3)

Me trying to translate into Spanish: Oh fuck, oh shit.
(A point, incidentally, that surprisingly few people seem to know is that ideally you want somebody to be translating *in* to their native language *from* their second language.)

@wmatagm.bsky.social why are Metro Transit PD officers wearing face masks when patrolling stations? This doesn't build trust with the community.

If you're looking for an American version of a "middle age blokes talking" podcast, I can't recommend the Unauthorized History of the Pacific War enough. Bringing together historians and career navy officers to talk about this stuff results in great listening.

The problem with protests in DC is that, regardless of what the event is, RevCom somehow manages to take every single one of them over.

As a reminder: LLMs are not intelligent beings. You are providing an input to an algorithm that calculates, in a very complicated way, the probability in which words will follow each other in response to your input based on whatever data was used to train the algorithm.

The algorithm doesn't think.
