After nearly a decade of advocacy, Cobb Park is partially open! 🌳

Starting today, the 2nd St NW gates are open sunrise to sunset — with paths, an open field, and a playground ready to go.

More to come this spring, but for now: enjoy!

rick scott is a liar and it helps to acknowledge that before you respond to anything he says about the implications of the anti-dc tax bill. he is not acting in good faith.

NEWS: The U.S. Senate has given initial approval to the Republican resolution repealing D.C.'s tax-decoupling bill. The vote was 51-46, fully along party lines.

(Deleted last tweet that said it was the final vote. That is likely to happen tomorrow. Apologies.)
The U.S. Senate has started debating the Republican resolution that would repeal the tax bill passed by the D.C. Council late last year to decouple the city's tax code from certain federal provisions.

"My view is leave D.C. alone," says Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Oregon), accusing Republicans of wanting to "trample on the rights and priorities of people they don’t even represent."

"It’s going to mess up the tax-filing season for thousands of residents," he adds.

first, paid tax preparation is already a scam.

second, making filers have to potentially do it TWICE -- AND potentially getting refunds months late, AND potentially lessening or overturning refunds is cruel and certainly unusual.
"My message to the Senate is don't disrupt tax-filing season," says @mayorbowser.dc.gov today, ahead of an expected vote in the Senate this week on a Republican resolution that would repeal a D.C. law that made changes to the local tax code.
