Today at the protest downtown, white organizers with 50501 called the police on a vendor for selling Black Panther merchandise in their protest even though he only had a small table and stayed out of the public right of way.

Here is the vendor’s statement:

I keep meaning to post more. Lots going on getting settled in our new home and rehearsing for a show in NYC. I crashed today. ☹️ And have lots of MSK pain lately. It’s so hard to rest and pace when I need to. The world doesn’t slow down for chronic illness and disability.

A second child has died of measles in Texas. The child was unvaccinated. Tragic and preventable, this is a direct consequence of anti-vaccine disinformation.

Millions suffer complex chronic illnesses without effective care. And no dedicated #LongCovid research funding from Gov. since 2021. Economic impact is mounting. This can’t go on.

It’s time to mask back up (N95 or better please!)

Resistance is easier when you have your health.

Coping with fascism, climate change, supply chain disruptions & food shortages will be easier if you have your health.

Disabled people need your solidarity. Protect us & protect yourself. Mask up

Columbia University agreed to a mask ban to appease Trump.

The school is no longer safe for disabled individuals, not to mention anyone who protests or speaks out on civil rights or Palestine.

Whatever your politics, mask bans should enrage you. They violate our freedom to avoid infection.

PS I remember being in the ICU seeing multiple patients die every shift and having people accuse physicians of killing patients by intubating them (when they couldn’t breathe). The reckoning I’d like to see is on why people were so keen to demonize the people sacrificing ourselves to care for them.

This is so upsetting: “Johns Hopkins University, one of the country’s leading centers of scientific research, said on Thursday that it would eliminate more than 2,000 workers in the United States and abroad because of the Trump administration’s steep cuts, primarily to international aid programs.”
Federal Cuts Prompt Johns Hopkins to Cut More Than 2,000 Workers
The university, a leader in scientific research, has been hard hit by the Trump administration’s cuts, which will slash at least $800 million from its budget.

I do wonder how much of the right wing turn against the rhetoric of “trauma” comes from its application giving medical credibility to the suffering of rape victims.
ProPublica looked into science grants that Ted Cruz's team flagged as "radical" and "neo-Marxist" and, uh.

This would be good comedy if it didn't matter so much www.propublica.org/article/ted-...
