Inoculating a generation against misinformation should be the national project of every democratic nation in the world.
About half of teens can't tell the difference between news and opinion, even when a piece is labeled "commentary."

Chuck Salter, CEO of @newslit.org, talks about the "news literacy" crisis (and how to fix it) in this week's @washingtonmonthly.com's podcast:

Just take a look at this and remember, Pam Bondi's concern here was not with any of the victims of these crimes but with the nosy Democrats who actually gave a shit about them.

MAGA mayor now sad that *his* life may be impacted by this, but he voted hard to harm other people. It's the GOP way.

You know what, it doesn't matter. I'm so sick of these powerful institutions immediately folding in the face of MAGA threats.

Bondi is what you get when you match a nominally human form with a mind formed solely of avarice, cynicism, and bile. She is just aggressively unethical.

It is hard to imagine a worse kind of person, except perhaps the people who personally abused the kids (like her boss, Trump).
Goldman: "Will the survivors and victims who are here please stand up one more time. By show of hands, how many of you or your loved ones actually have met with the DOJ? None ... How many of you were ignored by the DOJ? All of them." (Bondi responds by smearing Goldman.)

I suspect the group of Albertans who genuinely believe this drivel is very small, and the rest have ulterior motives rooted in a perceived chance at money and/or power within their little sphere.
These are not smart people.

1) Independence makes you *more* dependent on federal policy, since they get to decide whether or not you can access TMX. Forget about ever building another pipeline west.

2) You need the goods (food, etc.) that cross "our land". Blocking their passage is self-injury.
