Former Washington Post journalists have launched a GoFundMe to help repatriate fired staff members who are effectively stranded in foreign countries.

One of the richest men in the world fired them from the paper and didn’t even pay to ensure they got home.

No Canadian government body/agency/crown corp of any sort should be using X, any more than they should be using Truth Social. Rip off the band-aid, get it done.
Premier Susan Holt on the N.B. government's decision to abandon X: "We've just seen that it used to be a forum for more dialogue and we used to see better engagement and back and forth with New Brunswickers on the platform. But that doesn't seem to be the case anymore."

This is extremely noticeable in Canada. US media is bizarro land.
"The American media makes things that are abnormal seem normal. The European press doesn’t do that. So you’ll see when they report on Trump’s rambling Davos speech, they will say it made no sense. In the US press, you’ll just see excerpts and an attempt to sanitize it." — @anneapplebaum.bsky.social

The Guardian has a rough outline of what the Tulsi whistleblower complaint is about: NSA found someone close to Trump in contact with foreign intelligence, and rather than doing something about that, Tulsi brought the report to Susie Wiles.

😂 wtf America
This is honestly insane – like something out of China and Russia. MAGA-aligned US military officers have reportedly been pressuring their troops to go and watch the 'Melania' movie:

ICE told nurses this Minneapolis man “purposefully ran headfirst into a brick wall.”

What actually happened is that they pulled him from a car, beat him so viciously with a steel baton that he had 8 skull fractures, 5 life-threatening brain hemorrhages, and couldn’t remember he had a daughter.

We are deciding right now whether we want to be a country with ethnic cleansing and concentration camps.
The banality of evil is shocking. An ex-Big Lots warehouse for cheap consumer junk is bought by ICE to ship as many as 7,500 handcuffed human beings, as the Trump regime builds a U.S. gulag archipelago

The unthinkable comes to Pa. coal country. My special report www.inquirer.com/opinion/ice-...

"Republicans Condemn 'Incredibly Offensive' Trump Post About The Obamas"

Are you fucking kidding me? 3 fucking Republicans said something. 3.
Stop giving them credit for not even doing the absolute minimum. This is ludicrous.

Hard to imagine a more polar opposite to Trump's constant stream of abhorrent narcissism.
🇲🇩🇺🇦 Moldovan President Sandu said that she is against her nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize, because there are more worthy candidates - Ukrainian prisoners of war.

Sandu emphasized that it is Ukrainians who are truly sacrificing themselves for the sake of peace and security in Ukraine and the EU.

The days of assuming the USA (as a single entity), is an ally, are very much gone.

A significant portion of Americans would happily set the world on fire if their God Emperor told them that was a good thing to do.
Those are extremely worrying red lines and mean that Canada and Europe can't just go back to treating the US as a natural ally.
And the trend goes both ways, by the way.

The US government is telling Americans to hate Europeans and Canadians. And many have dutifully changed their opinions.
February 7, 2026 at 2:21 AM
To summarize:
1) *MAGA regime threatens all allies and partners*
2) Allies and partners: "Maybe USA government isn't so friendly anymore 🤷‍♂️"
3) GOP: "See! Nobody likes us 🤬"
And the trend goes both ways, by the way.

The US government is telling Americans to hate Europeans and Canadians. And many have dutifully changed their opinions.

The Globalization of Canadian Rage

"The lesson: America might be pointing a gun at you, but it can be made to behave if you point a gun back."

Rest assured, an unhinged America is going to see a lot more guns (economic, diplomatic, and literal) pointed right back at it.

Can I just say how much I despise the fact that Trump and MAGA have forced me to consider how I would live and keep my children safe during an American invasion and subsequent guerrilla war?
In 1812, Thomas Jefferson propounded that taking Canada is “a mere matter of marching.” In 2026, talk of the US invading Canada seems far-fetched—but not impossible. Writer and professor Peter Jones has to wonder: How would we actually defend ourselves? https://ow.ly/ip6L50Y9KFa
