can the next big term that gets treated like 'abolish' and 'defund' where it's not the exact right term to use to beg for table scraps, be 'expropriation'

this word feels like it is crackling with electric power right about now

much of fitness culture in the US was developed by people who literally entered sports and physical education instead of going to therapy and the attitudes around intensity and effort kinda reflect that. the smiling Jazzercise folks were right and your football coach / PE teacher was wrong

Amazingly, reaction times using screens while driving are worse than being drunk or high—no wonder 90 percent of drivers hate using touchscreens in cars. Finally the auto industry is coming to its senses.

We are a social species, and we have always prevailed through cooperation. Caring for our sick. Raising children we didn't sire or birth because they were part of our village or extended family. We are not breeders and predators, we are communicators and survivors. We evolved to UNITE.

My usual reminder that “we’re gonna file a lawsuit” isn’t news. That’s a press release. “We filed a lawsuit and here’s the complaint” is news.

They gave Balatro an 18+ only rating because it had poker cards in it.

liberals seem a lot more bothered by the chomsky-epstein connection than leftists.

looking at an account posting a music video about it in reply to every socialist comedian and podcast they can find, while every commie i know is like "that sucks, we'll just do it without him though."

This gender disparity is seriously hilarious to me. There’s something about it that is very “dudes rock” and “how did men even survive” at the same time.
Men just yearn for the jolt.

"Even though all participants had previously stated that they would pay money to avoid being shocked with electricity, 67% of men and 25% of women chose to inflict it on themselves rather than just sit there quietly and think, the team reports online today in Science."
People would rather be electrically shocked than left alone with their thoughts

editing an ep of @illconceivedpodcast.com, which has two hosts and comes from 120-150 minutes of raw audio, takes me about 6-8 hours depending on the episode. editing an ep of @worstpossible.world, which has three hosts and rolls for 3+ hours, takes @spocksbrian.worstpossible.world 8-12 hours
So glad to see this written about. It takes 4 - 6 (or more!) human labor hours of editing, mixing and mastering to make a 90 minute conversation flow nicely and artfully. Video-forward shows tend to excise this process entirely and the resultant conversations flow and sound like shit as a result.
‘Painful to hear!’ How podcasts’ rush to video is turning them into dreadful listens

This is also why I think New Yorkers have a different view on the pandemic than other people. We remember what March and April 2020 was like, we were the part of the country that got to witness how bad it could be. I remember the field hospital and the trucks full of bodies. I remember the sirens.
