Bring back burgundy sedans with cavernous burgundy interiors and rosewood accents. I want a car that drives like a bank.

If only our society took major crimes by rich people as seriously as minor crimes by poor people. Ideally more seriously. But as seriously would be a big improvement.

All PMs are flawed but I think if you have no coherent vision, no ability to make decisions quickly, no humour or charisma when addressing the public, no strong roots in your party, no talent for charming MPs and no control over your own office, then you are unlikely to be able to turn it around

If Starmer wants to stop a leadership challenge, he just needs to change direction. It’s not hard. Have the brains to realise that the Blue Labour approach is failing dismally.

Remember when the Democratic Party party turned on David Hogg for suggesting we should primary the types of senators who would do shit like fold in half at the worst possible time, resulting in millions of Americans getting fucked over a barrel?

The thing about Mamdani is that he’s a talented politician but not otherworldly or one in a billion, he’s just a competent guy with popular ideas who ran against an entitled piece of shit and to me it’s a lot more optimistic to imagine 1000 campaigns like his than to view him as a unique phenomenon

The original Dem demands were:
1) Permanent ACA subsidies
2) Medicaid funding restored
3) No more blank checks for the regime (rescission)

They dropped Medicaid immediately. Went silent on rescission. Cut back to 1 year of subsidies on Friday. And surrendered today.

The Senate Democrats!

Once they were in the shutdown though they could have made it about anything. Put clips of ICE abducting children on endless loop and say “do we keep funding a govt that does *that*?” Then you might get federal workers clamoring not for concessions but a strike.

Again, requires believing in things.
This was a doomed exercise from the outset. They picked a fight to give the GOP something they thought they would want anyway, and have now been embarrassed into capitulating on even that. Beyond pathetic.

Now that it's over, we can safely say that dumbest people on earth blowing a bunch of money on polymarket because millenials delayed their early vote for a Halloween sticker is one of the funniest moments in American political history.

why it's almost like there's a concerted assault on informed consensus by extraction class owned media conglomerates to replace what was left of U.S. political journalism with lazy controversy hounding infotainment and right wing and corporatist agitprop
I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.

certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.

its so weird to me that people who think they're going to heaven when they die are currently going around saying the absolute most nasty, despicable, cruel things. Like what do you even think you're going to do in heaven, keep talking about how people need to get a job?

Keir Starmer shouldn't wait until the likely fiasco of the May local elections. If he has any concern for party and country, he should step aside now, giving his successor as long as possible to undo the damage of his disastrous premiership and restore hope in politics.
