📍Minneapolis, less begrudgingly than usual ❤️
📖Current reading: We don’t know ourselves: a personal history of modern Ireland by Fintan O’Toole
Super normal night where you hear a helicopter that’s not even making loops and isn’t on radar. And even more normal that there’s not a single plane flying over the city 🙃

Oh no, my neighbors will know? You mean those people I went to the vigil with on Saturday? Or the ones who picked up whistles from my house? Or do you mean the ones I met with to talk about how to start a mutual aid fund?
TOM HOMAN: “We’re going to create a database where those people that are arrested for interference, impeding and assault, we’re going to make them famous. We’re going to put their face on TV. We’re going to let their employers, in their neighborhoods, in their schools, know who these people are.”

So proud of my congresswoman
I’m ok. I’m a survivor so this small agitator isn’t going to intimidate me from doing my work.

I don’t let bullies win.

Grateful to my incredible constituents who rallied behind me. Minnesota strong.

Most pristine ratio I’ve seen. This is a demonic position to take.

Christin is a dear friend and I'm so glad she's running for School Board. No one will stand for Minneapolis Public Schools, the students, the teachers, the families, like she will. Christin has literally been on the front lines fighting the ICE occupation for them. I'm proud to support her candidacy
My name is Christin Crabtree, and I'm running for Minneapolis School Board - At Large.

There are so many important ways to plug in right now, but if you're looking for one that's about building towards the flourishing schools and city we all deserve, I'd love your support.

I’ve know Christin for 15 years, since our babies went to preschool together. She’s been a tireless, passionate advocate for her community for as long as I’ve known her. She’s also brave af and speaks up even when it could cost her. You couldn’t hope for a better school board member!

File under: NOBODY ASKED YOU, SAM
Nobody should look to these folks for moral clarity, but in this case, as you would imagine, “weigh in” equals weaksauce, anodyne statement designed mostly to not offend.

I keep seeing 'what can they do? they don't have the votes.'

The answer is NOT THIS. It's actually better to NOTHING than to push this list of pathetic "reforms."

It's better to do NOTHING than this.

Cedrick Frazier is running for Hennepin County Attorney, i.e. head prosecutor covering Minneapolis. He's probably the choice of most progressive folks already, and has made public statements about prosecuting ICE agents. As a caucus-goer, I got a letter with a contact number and asked him about it:

Dear neighbor, It is not the time to let your guard down, nor is it the time to stop organizing.

While Bovino will be leaving Minneapolis along with some U.S. Border Patrol agents, there is still no specific plan that has been communicated to the public. 1/

The crazy stories Vance didn’t mention, a thread
Oh dang, okay I have a crazy story! So, this U.S. citizen was watching TV in his house, in his underwear (like a lot of us!) and ICE came and BROKE DOWN HIS DOOR WITHOUT A SIGNED JUDICIAL WARRANT AND DRAGGED HIM OUT THE HOUSE IN HIS UNDERS IN SUBZERO TEMPERATURES AND KEPT HIM FOR HOURS.

Schwalm is right about one thing: What's unfolding in Minnesota is resistance, not protest.

It's peaceful resistance, but it's resistance. And it's growing.
MAGA military geniuses are talking about Minnesota protestors like they are the Iraqi insurgency, the Taliban, and the Viet Cong all rolled into one.

My boss has been great (it me), but if yours is a big ol’ turd, let these guys know!
Hey Minnesotans. Have your bosses sent you a mealy-mouthed email about how to remain productive during these troubled times or some other example of non-committal, faux-concerned corporate-speak? We want to publish a bunch of these. Send examples to keith at racketmn.com. You will NOT be identified.

I'm looking for videos that explain MN-specific, know your rights information in Spanish, Somali, and Hmong. Does anyone have good, vetted videos?

Wow, this is unbelievably accurate.
A lot of the Male Loneliness Epidemic can be traced back to the fact that most cis dudes don’t participate in communal logistics.
I think @sarahjeong.bsky.social said it's because they devalue women's labor and a LOT of this Scary Logistics stuff comes from people who don't understand that basically all of the civic life they enjoy is created with the help of free labor, largely by women.

To everyone outside MN who saw the Mpls mayor on TV & thought he seemed good: here’s exhibit no. 2,893 why he SUCKS
We need an EVICTION MORATORIUM NOW.

Our neighbors risk being separated from their families when they go to work. They also run the risk of being displaced if they don’t.

Sadly, Mayor Frey refused to sign the resolution calling on the Governor to enact this moratorium.

The least of our troubles, obviously, but I’m gonna need the out of town press to learn how to spell and say Nicollet. As for pronunciation, probably a few of you need to hear this as well: it’s NICK-uh-lit, almost like “nickel it”. And yes it’s very wrong but that’s just how it goes. 🤷‍♀️
