guess it's time for another introduction? hi, I'm Octo (the name comes from rodents, not from octopodes but nobody cares and I of ran with that), I write for a living, I have kids, I like geeky stuff, especially games, I write in German and English and like to deep dive into weirdly specific topics
oh also, im an adoptee so I talk about identity and othering and racism here. and I'm very vocal about evidence based parenting and have zero tolerance for lactivists and anti vaxers.

It's hard, as both a woman and a journalist, to understand both of these things and figure out a path forward. I can't mitigate them through more personal effort, education or professional experience. And it's galling to read the defenses for the layoffs and the people named in the Epstein files.
