guess it's time for another introduction? hi, I'm Octo (the name comes from rodents, not from octopodes but nobody cares and I of ran with that), I write for a living, I have kids, I like geeky stuff, especially games, I write in German and English and like to deep dive into weirdly specific topics
oh also, im an adoptee so I talk about identity and othering and racism here. and I'm very vocal about evidence based parenting and have zero tolerance for lactivists and anti vaxers.

Ich kann allgemein diese höchst amüsante Podcast-Folge & Buchkritik empfehlen. Wo es auch um die Abgründe geht, wenn Promis "mal eben nen Roman" schreiben. Als Autor ist es auch hochgradig schmerzhaft, was da von Verlagen auf den Markt gedrückt wird, weil es sich mit Promi-Bonus verkauft. #Streeck

There was really this sweet spot. I was so elated when I didn't have to listen through an endless list of movies on the phone or wait for someone to pick up to book a ticket. And now I can't go to the cinema without my smartphone anymore because it's all apps.
I think one of the saddest things about being a millennial is remembering a time when technology was advancing in a way that made life better and easier and more exciting instead of actively, intentionally worse

Glaube am meisten hat mich Juans Morenos Buch abgeholt als er obsessiv jede kleinste Äußerung von Relotius überprüft hat und ihm einfach niemand glauben wollte weil kein normaler Mensch sich so knietief über irgendwas einlesen kann, möchte oder auch sollte.

Mein Lieblingstreppenwitz ist der, wo ein nicht kleiner Teil der formulierten Kritik an bestimmten Spendenaktionen aus einer ausgewiesen sehr neurodivergenten und links orientierten Bubble kam, die sich hyperfokusmäßig bereits mehrfach in die Mechanismen von Social-Media-Spenden eingegraben hat.
