I waited a day to say this bc I respected everyone's right to vent some anger, but *remember to focus on what you can do*. Whether it's defending your community, taking action around what you've been venting about, whatever — but don't let all of your energy get captured in the social media space.

Guys just thought of this: what if we wrest power away from the capitalist ruling class and create a society not based on the exploitation of a laboring class

Quick note about this again; the 100 mile zone has nothing to do with Border Patrol’s ability to operate. They can operate anywhere in the country.

The 100 mile zone is ONLY about where they have heightened stop and search powers.

It’s not a jurisdictional thing.
Why is Border Patrol in Chicago? It's not inside 100 mile limit.

The opportunity to bring this organization into legal existence and help it remain compliant is the "once-in-a-lifetime new project" I had to decline. (But no regrets, for pre-existing clients come first). That said, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you sign up to plug in. It's going to be big. OurTime.nyc

I had a run in with ICE snatching a man out of his car while walking my children to school this morning in NW DC

I asked a neighbor to continue walking my kids to school and I turned back to document and confront the ICE agents.

I am in contact with @dcmigrantmutualaid.org with the full video.

WOW. A federal judge says he's going to issue a Temporary Restraining Order requiring ICE to make changes at the Broadview facility in Chicago, a facility that until January was only for stays under 12 hours "absent exceptional circumstances," but has become, in Judge Gettleman's words, "a prison."
U.S. Robert Gettleman is now giving his thoughts. He says, "I think the evidence has been pretty strong that this facility is no longer just a temporary holding facility. …

"It has really become a prison."
DOJ's Jana Brady steps up next but says she'll largely "rest on our brief that we filed."

She wants any TRO to not "interfere with the executive branch."

Remember when Obama closed Gitmo and prosecuted the architects of the CIA torture and rendition programs? Yea, me neither. I do remember Obama prosecuting Chelsea Manning however.

The Trump admin wouldn’t be able to do nearly as much damage today if Biden and Obama didn’t perpetuate and even build upon what Dick Cheney started (and Kissinger well before him). The War on Terror, mass surveillance, CIA torture program, expansion of executive power, Islamophobic policies…

Dick Cheney did more than anyone else to build up expansive and destructive executive branch powers in the wake of 9/11; he lived to see another president turn those same powers against his own daughter.

He should be a warning sign to the GOP today but too many of them are in the cult.

Hakeem Jeffries can go fuck himself. The future of the Democratic Party is certainly someone who doesn't fail the respond-to-questions-in-a-straight-line challenge every single time. (Coming from someone who doesn't think the DNC will save anyone except their donors but, y'know)
Hakeem Jeffries says Zohran Mamdani is not the future of the Democratic Party.

Awful: Pentagon officials told lawmakers Trump now claims authority to bomb people merely “affiliated” with “narco-terrorist" groups, Rep Adam Smith tells me. But under questioning, they wouldn't say what “affiliated” even means!
