I have now typed three posts and deleted them. Time to go do some work instead of fuming.

i think this is key. taking the deal would amount to taking the blame. it would turn a clear political victory into an unambiguous defeat.
If the Dems blink after all of this, for a deal that all but ensures no ACA subsidies in 2026 anyway, then what was the purpose of letting the shutdown go for 40 days in the first place?

💯 agree, even when it's challenging (the sweeter the release of finding the right fit).
Writers write, period. However, the process of doing language as Morrison called it separates people for whom it's a means to an end and those of us who honor it as a craft.

Sometimes I wonder if our many years of jokes about writers hating writing and doing anything but writing, etc, have convinced people that the writing part is the hurdle and the goal is just to have a thing in hand. But I am here to tell you: the writing is the best part. The act is the thing.

If you're arrested in Illinois for the means by which you acquire food for your family because of the government shutdown or loss of SNAP benefits, I can represent you pro bono. Email me at sheryl@weikallaw.com. As always, I will take as many cases as I can.

Finished another commission that requested "a Fall palette". Isn't this gorgeous? Complete with fingerless gloves & a hat, I thought that variegated colors in the accessories would go well with the striking gradient shawl. Thought y'all would like something pretty for your TL. 🧶

I’m not proud of not having used ChatGPT or whatever bc it’s … easy not to use it. Choosing not to use it has no impact on my day. Bc it’s not even good at the thing it’s supposed to be doing. It’d be like being proud of myself for not using a broken calculator to do math.

That's a prosperous looking home with that vehicle and all. How many Jamaicans can afford to put up panels? Do they have to own their homes to do so? Do their homes need to be very sturdy, not shacks?
