Just like Kendrick brought back mom jeans, Benito brought back shoulder padded blazers.

It was a CHOICE to have a Ricky Martin, a gay Boricua, do a guest appearance and not someone like Marc Anthony. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 🇵🇷🏳️‍🌈

Half unique views and half a bunch of us re-watching every episode.
Variety reports that #HeatedRivalry has reached an average of 10.6 million viewers per episode, but I don’t know if that’s unique viewers or it’s just ten of us who’ve watched every episode a million times.

Friends with a new, renewed, or amplified interest in the Spanish language and Latin America, consider checking out the work your colleagues/neighbors in departments of Spanish/Romance Languages/Modern Languages/etc--they're likely in the corner of an old campus building 1/

Bad Bunny opening halftime performance by moving through sugarcane highlights colonial history that binds US, Puerto Rico & the larger Caribbean. Sugar everywhere in the performance - drinks, wedding 🎂, etc. Labor, desire & pleasure tied to the land.

I love how people finding out the Hay-tee is just the Americanized pronunciation and the actual pronunciation for Haiti is Ayiti(eye-e-tea)

My favorite days on the internet are when people across diasporas come together to prove, yet again, that whiteness really isn’t all that.

It reeks of: "oh you say you're Puerto Rican? Do you speak Spanish?"
Not someone trying to out Boricua me in my own mentions. Go away! Damn, can't be joyful for a minute.

Like you don't have to be Puerto Rican to feel that kind of longing to heal from childhood trauma.
It's adult you stepping into the past to protect child you. Very powerful.

My read on that scene was Bad Bunny both referencing the current events of ICE kidnapping a Latino child and his own child self Benito (both conejitos). Benito was Liam.

I gotta quote estar wars: "That’s how we’re gonna win. Not fighting what we hate, saving what we love."
Cause that's what heroes do.

Bad Bunny’s beautiful and joyful portrayal of Puerto Rico stands on the shoulders of Kendrick Lamar’s love letter to Compton last year.

Watching the biggest performance in the world become a representation of real people in real, American places is beautiful. #SuperBowl

Benito is a threat b/c he makes art so alluring and enjoyable you want to understand everything about it and then you end up learning about sugar and slavery and colonialism and the Taínos and Hawaii and then you probably have some thoughts of your own, and that's why art is powerful and dangerous
