As a queer author, thank you for buying our gay books in response to the challenges and bans and court decisions, but I implore you to go stand up for your public libraries and schools—they’re our greatest advocates, and they’re kind of the main target of this whole effort.

I know we’re all subject to the whims of the nostalgia cycle and recycled franchises, but did we really have to reboot the freaking Taney Court?

If you need a reminder of what we're fighting for, here are a bunch of authors reading short excerpts of letters sent to them by grateful readers. Recommend having tissues handy.

I need everyone on Normal People internet to know that American Girl Doll Instagram is doing doll protests today. There are tiny t-shirts and signs. AND THEN I realized it's a joint protest with the Barbie ppl, where there are EVEN TINIER SIGNS.

The whole "the curtain is blue!" discourse has convinced half the population that artists have no themes or questions their work explores. People, this is not an English teacher conspiracy. Artists do include symbolism and subtext!

Huge news! The Oregon House just voted to pass SB 1098, our state's Freedom to Read bill!!!! 🎉🎉🎉

The bill is now off to the governor's desk for a signature. Thank you to everyone who testified, contacted reps, and helped to spread the word about the bill! We did it!

Friendly reminder! If you want to support the right to read by purchasing a banned book or taking it out from the library your impact will be much greater if you choose a living author. Orwell is great and all, but he's not doing much with your money.

there are powers that will do everything they can to convince you otherwise, but it should be said loudly that protest proves love. community is a conduit for love and oppression seeks to crush community. standing up to say no is an act of love

We devote musicals, miniseries, and documentaries to the founders of our first republic and not to those of our second, who saw this country with clear eyes.

We need fewer encomiums for Jefferson, Madison, and Lafayette. More respect for Sumner, Stevens, Bingham and Douglass (Frederick).
Which founders? The founders of our second founding, those who drafted and ratified the 14th Amendment did.

That’s why they drafted Sec. 2 that would punish states that engaged in voter suppression and Sec. 3 that bars insurrectionists from serving in state or federal govt.
the founders never imagined a country destroyed by such a proud lack of public virtue

Huge news out of Nebraska: Democrat John Ewing just flipped the mayor's office in Omaha, the state's biggest city.

He successfully tied the GOP incumbent to Trump. She responded by claiming Ewing "stands with radicals" on "boys in girls' bathrooms and sports." It didn't work.

And it should make GOP Rep. Don Bacon nervous about next year
