I'm gonna be real-real here: Bookstore Romance Day may not happen in 2026. By this time of year, I've usually secured at least a handful of sponsors & their backing helps pay for things like newsletter services & Canva & Zoom & internet, all of which are needed for planning & off-season events.

Please put the Working Families Party in your mouth. They did wonders with Mamdani’s campaign. We saw how quickly his rise to collective awareness was in less than six months.

We can do that too, people. Everywhere. We hold the power. Screw Establishment Dems. Their time is over. It’s our turn now.

Even if you have a job that offers healthcare in the U.S, you still might have to pay expensive monthly premiums to have that healthcare. Nowadays, employers typically only cover a portion of the cost. I don't think we talk enough about employer healthcare often being unaffordable for employees.

Democrats are considering a Republican deal to reopen government with a promise of a later vote on extending health-care tax credits—but no guarantee.

One Democrat says it'd amount to "unconditional surrender that abandons the 24 million Americans whose health care premiums are about to double."

Can't wait to moderate the conversation with authors Derrick Barnes & Jose Pimienta this Sat, Nov 8 at the Portland Book Festival. Gabbie (pictured with me) says unfortunately she won't see you there. She loves books but humans not so much 😹

A teen here in Hillsboro, Oregon, started a GoFundMe to help families in the region impacted by ICE. You can hear his moving testimony from this week's city council meeting.

BREAKING: The Supreme Court granted the Trump administration's request to enforce its discriminatory passport policy while our lawsuit makes its way through the courts.

This decision undermines the freedom of transgender, non-binary, and intersex people to have our IDs reflect who we are.

Fuck Trump and his stacked Supreme Court for continuously working to make people's lives miserable. Thank you to the ACLU for continuing to fight the anti-trans executive orders and today's Supreme Court ruling.
This fight isn't over. Our case challenging President Trump's executive order will still move forward.

In the meantime anyone who applies for a new, corrected, or replacement passport, or for a passport renewal, is at risk of having their passport issued bearing the sex they were assigned at birth.

Look at who in your community is putting up food pantries and serving free meals no questions asked. It's certainly not large box corporate restaurants and retail establishments, but mom and pop restaurants, locally owned coffee shops, etc… 1/2

I have been struggling to write longer works since 2020, but this play, written in both poetry and prose, reignited my love of writing the dark stories I'm known for. It's a reimagining of Little Red Riding Hood for our modern era, and I can't wait to dive into the work to bring it to the stage.

I can't keep the thread up, but suffice to say, PEOPLE VOTED TO PROTECT AND FUND LIBRARIES AND SO MANY SCHOOL BOARD ELECTIONS SUPPORTED PRO-EDUCATION, PRO-STUDENT CANDIDATES.

People showed up. They didn't just buy banned books. They VOTED.

And guess what?

Voting made a difference.

here is my story about how Zohran's focus on community amid the loneliness epidemic helped young people connect their politics to an organizing infrastructure, that interviewed ZM, and does not use the NYT's framing of "they don't know how to make friends" :-) and also ran 4 days before NYT's lol

Republicans running anti-trans hatefests lost and Zohran Mamdani is a hugely vocal supporter of trans and other LGBTQ rights.

That is MASSIVELY important to look at and run on.

Roll around in all this & soak it in. This is the good shit, & it should be celebrated.

And then it should be Built on.
