These tools are like the button a monkey in a science experiment pushes to get more coke. Coke is addictive. Coke will kill you. The solution is not to shame people for using coke, or to say that "hey, it's their choice to do coke!," it's to make coke go away.

No, it was a successful coup. None of the people who led it were punished, and are in fact back in power, rewarded for their efforts to break the system by running it. Donald Trump is currently the dictator he attempted to become 5 years ago, and it’s because nobody treated trying as a crime.
We must speak plainly: January 6th was an attempted coup. It was an effort to nullify millions of lawful votes and subvert the will of the American people.

This anthropomorphized framing of Grok in the media (claiming that Grok has "apologized") only serves the interests of these tech companies. It gives the appearance that some entity has taken responsibility for what is happening, when in reality no one has.
Is anyone going to take accountability for this?

But the attack failed because of the courage of public servants who gave proof through the night that our flag was still there by refusing to bend to pressure, threats, or intimidation. On that day, the Constitution held and we kept the Republic.

Five years ago today, the United States Capitol was attacked in a violent insurrection incited by the President of the United States for one purpose: to overturn a free and fair election and cling to power in clear violation of the Constitution.

The American people electing Trump after he staged a coup attempt 5 years ago was a nail in the coffin of our democracy. You can rationalize it all you want - But inflation! But wokeness! - but ultimately it was a societal suicide attempt and probably the dumbest collective voting decision ever made

you know one thing dems do not need and have never needed overwhelming majorities to do is to stop talking about republicans as their respectable colleagues who they hope will do the right thing and the fever will break any minute now, and to start talking about them as enemies who must be defeated
A lot of people are mad at Schumer for saying this. But he's right. Democrats don't control a single branch of government and they can't pass anything. Only Republicans can rein in Trump because they control both chambers of Congress. Democrats have no cards to play here.
Schumer: "Republicans must -- if there was ever a time, they must step up to the plate. This is the time. And if they don't, they're gonna feel the heat from their constituents."

We're in the most "what is going to disappear that's never coming back" place we've been at with the regime since the DOGE massacre days, I think.

This time on a global level, at a scale that is difficult to even process
The regime is dead serious about Greenland. They're totally high on the Venezuela coup and think they could get away with anything right now, no consequences.

It's, "I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody, and I wouldn't lose any voters, OK?"

But for war
I think the understandable tendency has been to treat this as a tasteless joke, but in light of all we've seen to date, we need to take seriously the possibility that they may be insane enough to try to seize the territory of a peaceful ally by force for... no real reason.
