It's wild how "our intellectual elite are a bit morally smug" warrants the same article being pushed out saying as much for a decade, but a global paedophile ring in which many of our richest and most powerful and leading minds all took part is, you know, uncouth to talk about.

Is now the time when I remind everyone that Dashiell Hammett, who wrote famous things you’ve heard of (Thin Man, Maltese Falcon) did prison time and died broken and impoverished because he refused to give up names of people who donated to a bail fund, a thing that was perfectly legal at the time?

If your boss or company tells you to do something unethical: don't say yes. Make them write it down.
If they won't put it in writing yourself. Send an email (bcc yourself?): "Following our conversation on x date at x time regarding x, I am writing to clarify your directives. According to my notes, you instructed me to A, B, and C. If any of this is incorrect, please advise. I have some concerns."
