I found @brianphillips.bsky.social's defense of the em dash to be thoughtful, beautifully expressed, and human!!!
Stop AI-Shaming Our Precious, Kindly Em Dashes—Please
Human writers have always used the em dash. In fact, it’s the most human punctuation mark there is.

i am glad that millennials were exposed to enough lazy, decroded "millennials are killing the X industry" articles a decade ago that by and large our response to people doing the same to gen Z is "so what. mind your business"
I have learned that Gen Z expects the person calling to say "hello" first, instead of the person answering; upending a century of phone norms. You know what? fine, I say. Phone calls aren't what they used to be anyway www.businessinsider.com/gen-z-phone-...
Gen Z doesn't say 'hello' when answering the phone. I'm concerned.
Gen Z is making up its own etiquette rules when it comes to answering the phone. Some of them aren't saying "hello." They want you to first.

i can’t think of a single problem where you’d be relieved that THIS guy finally showed up to resolve it. dispute over winnings on a riverboat casino? bejeweled class ring gone missing? rigged carnival game accidentally let a kid win?

This could have paid for 15 students to attend all 4 years tuition free, or relieved a years worth of tuition for 50+ students
The University of Michigan spent $800,000 hiring private investigators--one of whom FAKED A DISABILITY--to surveil anti-genocide protesting students. I'm speechless.

Literally evil.
