That was at the Kennedy Ripple of Hope Award gala in NYC on Dec. 9, as Lemon tells it.
Just a few days later, @danielsgoldman.dg4ny.co’s campaign had Pelosi as a validator defending the #NY10 incumbent from @bradlander.bsky.social.

Brad Lander approached Nancy Pelosi at a gala and told her he was running for Congress. “I am a Dan Goldman Democrat,” she responded. “Democrats don’t run against Democrats.”

“Was I too much of a b—?” she asked after.

I’m planning to start at City & State on Dec. 22.
Here’s the announcement:

I’ve loved my time at POLITICO on the all-star New York team. There are NO better colleagues than my co-authors Emily Ngo and Nick Reisman.
I’ll be taking a break to honeymoon with Caitlin (2025’s been a big year!), then back for one final week of Playbook before joining C&S.
November 25, 2025 at 3:07 PM
Some professional news: I’m coming back to @cityandstateny.bsky.social as editor-in-chief.

I was a fan of C&S when I was a college student emailing to ask for an internship, and I’m still a fan today. Excited to take the helm heading into such a crucial and interesting time in NY politics.

Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani hasn’t endorsed fellow democratic socialist and NYC Council Member Chi Ossé in his bid to unseat House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries.

Per @jccoltin.bsky.social, Mamdani on discouraging Chi Ossé from primarying Jeffries:

Appreciates his work for tenants, but “I believe that there are many ways right here in New York City to both deliver on an affordability agenda and take on the authoritarian administration in the White House.”

After the City Council won the lawsuit blocking Mayor Eric Adams' efforts to let ICE on Rikers, Cabán and the council are hoping to add to sanctuary city laws and speficially block ICE from all DOC facilities.
I’m introducing a law today to keep ICE off Rikers. We must protect New Yorkers from modern-day storm troopers.

"I don’t fucking care if you agree with him or not, you don’t say that shit!" he said. "Don’t use that fucking language! You don’t fucking call someone a terrorist! You don’t know what the fuck you’re saying! So grow the fuck up! ... Zohran keep doing your fucking thing, man!”
October 6, 2025 at 9:25 PM
Man in the black and white flag mask biked in circles around the Zohran Mamdani presser in Jackson Heights this morning calling the mayoral candidate “a terrorist.” After a minute or two of that, the muscular man screamed at him to get out of here with his bigoted shit.

Cash on hand:

Mamdani: $5,062,663
Cuomo: $1,382,505
Sliwa: $2,272,246

Next public funds payment scheduled 10/9. Another chance on 10/30.
October 3, 2025 at 11:38 PM
Filings 8/19-9/29:

Mamdani: Raised $431,567 (stopped 9/5); Spent $1,347,344; 6,543 contributors; $63 avg.; 51% NYC

Cuomo: Raised $939,857; Spent $1,513,042; 2,754 contributors, $325 avg.; 75% NYC

Sliwa: Raised $429,472; Spent $1,542,993; 4,240 contributors, $100 avg.; 60% NYC

But Mamdani isn’t the only one who’s changed. The movement has all but ended, and there’s more of a consensus, even on the council’s left flank, on building the new jails as part of closing Rikers Island.
October 3, 2025 at 1:35 PM
Conditions on Rikers Island are horrible for detainees and correction officers. Managing and then closing Rikers Island would be one of the thorniest issues for Mamdani to work through if elected mayor, but it’s one that hasn’t gotten much attention.
October 3, 2025 at 1:35 PM
As an activist in 2019, Mamdani shamed the pols who voted to build the borough-based jails. Now on the cusp of being mayor, he’s shed his revolutionary No New Jails pose for a stance more akin to a traditional liberal reformer.

Mamdani protested new jails. Now he’s committing to building them.
Managing Rikers Island — and moving to close it once and for all — will be one of the thorniest issues for New York City’s next mayor.
