Respawned 80's game developer. Dodgy Rocks, Turbo Tomato, Rogue Declan. Working on porting Lumo to Amiga.
Wish I could have gone to RetroFest this weekend, but stupid Irish Sea makes it expensive.

Also I’ve been away the past two weekends as it is and need to build up travel points again 😁

Ubunutu 24 LTS installed and a few apps installed. Worked better when I switched to Xorg and installed the Dash-To-Bar extension. I haven't tried installing any Amiga stuff yet - that's a whole thing on its own.

Buy a new drive or YOLO and wipe Windows 11 with Ubuntu?

Scored a ThinkPad Yoga X13 Gen 1 with i7 and 16GB RAM for under £200. It just arrived and it's like new!

I'll install Ubuntu and use it as a travel #Amiga stuff machine. It's small, has plenty of grunt for dev/emulation, and the folding form factor means it can double up as a table demo machine.

Just noticed this little Lumo bit in the previous Amiga Addict (issue 39) @amigaaddict.bsky.social 😁

Looking (ahead) at upgrading my 2020 i9 MBP, probably before April for tax reasons. The comparison benchmarks between M5 and i9-9880H are ridiculous.

I'm so tired of study after study that shows clear economic growth and stability for everyone (UBI, 4 day work week, universal healthcare, etc) but because the richest people in the country get rich faster without them, we all just suffer instead.

And this over the top of already obscene wealth...

We don’t use generative AI at Strange Scaffold and I can confirm that a *lot* of other studios are not—whether indie or AAA.

Get outta here with this normalization bullshit.

Ugh. Have to plan for a MBP upgrade next year as Homebrew is phasing out support for macOS on Intel.

x86 moves to Tier 3 around September 2026 - "Homebrew may work, but with a poor and unstable experience"

I’m thinking about having Retro Remake host a PS1 homebrew game jam with cash prizes and free SuperStation one units.

Thoughts?

As I’m rewatching Stranger Things before season 5 starts, I fondly remember when the board game I did the art for; Stranger Things: Upside Down was displayed alongside the cast and creators of the show. ❤️

I love experiencing nerdy geekout moments like these 🤓

the idea that lots of gamedevs are secretly using ai is booster bullshit

what on earth would I use genAI tools for? Coming up with ideas? Writing? It’s shit at those

making 3D models? Coding stuff? It’s shit at that too

oh but it’s faster maybe? Did I mention it’s shit at things?

seems important
