A second weird thing found on Mt Tongariro summit ridge yesterday:

A constantly playing, solar-powered #Japanese or #Chinese(?), nembutsu chanting plastic lotus flower, firmly embedded in the ground.
I turned it off, but no one here has seen anything like it in the #mountains before!

Another channel for dirty foreign money to influence our politics - Reform might say they want our country back, but how hypocritical is it to use foreign money to achieve that?

You've appointed Tories to your top team. Why should people believe your party is any different?

Farage: "These were two people who were ministers, but frankly weren't ministers for very long".

Suella Braverman was a minister for over 4 years.

Robert Jenrick was a minister for almost 5 years.

On the passing of Jesse Jackson, let us take a moment to reflect on what a narcissistic, selfish sack of shit Donald Trump is.

I am so impressed by how ITV News presenters actually embody feelings and concern in their news reporting; unlike the bland, anodyne presenters now at the BBC.

And I say that as a decades-long, former BBC News watcher.
Well done @itvnews.bsky.social

Civil rights leader Jesse Jackson has passed away at the age of 84. My thoughts are with his family.

I wanted to share this clip from his appearance on Sesame Street in 1971. His important words ring just as true today as they did back then.

Hi, my name is Suella Braverman. I was a minister in the government that broke Britain. I am so furious that I was a part of breaking Britain that I want you to vote for me to fix the f ups I made because it had nothing to do with me whatsoever.

Just unearthed my 2007 #RiskAssessment for installing webcameras on the side of #DerbyCathedral.

A lot of 'SEVERITY' issues where the outcome was 'LETHAL', but over the last 20 years we do seem to have managed to reduce the risks to zero (so far, anyway)!

Well said. The problem is that the leaders of the US government and the people around them are more interested in their ability to profit from the resources of Ukraine and business deals in Russia than a lasting peace for Ukraine and Europe.

Hungary holds elections in 2 months. And the US Secretary of State is in Hungary campaigning for Viktor Orban. And as you can see, Russian state media loves it.

"Meanwhile, Russia and China are pouring billions into state-run media. And American news organisations are crumbling under the Trump administration."

The BBC World Service is far from perfect but given the wider context, I find this to be deeply sad.

The New York Times reports that the Department of Homeland Security has sent Google, Meta, and other media corporations subpoenas for the names on accounts that criticize ICE enforcement. The department wants to identify Americans who oppose what it’s doing. I’ll save them time.

Exciting times waiting for the postman next week!

Three wide-angle #Axis IP outdoor cameras with IR illumination and an external microphone should be winging their way to me shortly. Oh, plus a cheap analogue nest camera for direct TV viewing.

Maybe not so exciting for you, but they are for me!
