Reform UK Ltd :
Lying, incompetent, racist, flag-shagging ignorami.
The black hole in Durham County Council’s budget has grown by £11.1mn in the past two months under the control of Reform UK.

Its cabinet has been forced to approve a £10mn list of cuts.

But the measures will still leave the county council with a deficit of £72mn over the coming four years
Reform cabinet backs £10mn cuts to start filling Durham’s growing black hole
Reform is now learning that running a big council is not as easy as it probably thought

The catastrophic illegal waste dumping in Oxfordshire (see next post) is a direct result of the deregulation-by-stealth I wrote about in 2021, when my dead goldfish became a registered waste disposer. I warned it would let the mafia in. And here we are.🧵

Britain through the looking glass: my dead goldfish is now a registered waste disposer | George Monbiot
Algernon Goldfish is long gone, but I was able to sign him up. No wonder so many crooks are illegally dumping and ruining our environment, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

300,000 pages of the Epstein files???
Surely that’s enough evidence in itself to prove his innocence?
Anyone keeping such a detailed day-to-day diary clearly couldn’t find time to traffic girls as well! 😭
FYI, there are over 300,000 pages of Epstein files.

I really hate it when scientists keep saying that “we need to rebuild trust in science,” because it implies that scientists are to blame for the mistrust rather than the millions of dollars of dark money that have funded political attacks on science in order to advance a far right agenda.

Well, I survived the skydive!

Great to see the world from the perspective of a stooping Peregrine Falcon- even if at only half the speed, and trussed to a big burly bloke!

What a brilliant way to link to a key societal issue that very few people ever think about!
just learned we won an award for our blog post about Tom Holland and stormwater management.

remember, when you see an article about stormwater management, you repost it. i don’t make the rules.

UK and Norway won nature's lottery in 1970 - found oil/gas in the North Sea.

UK squandered wealth, appeased corporations.

Norway levied 78% tax, took direct stake in companies.

Norway now has $1.8 trillion sovereign fund. UK has public finance crisis.

UK Govts still appeasing corporations/rich.
How sparsely populated Norway amassed $1.8 trillion | Fortune Europe
Launched in the early 1990s to invest mostly in bonds, the fund has grown to become the largest of its kind by acquiring small equity stakes in thousands of companies across the world.

Tomorrow, it’s “Let’s jump out of an aeroplane at 13,000 feet!” day and pretend I’m a Peregrine Falcon.

But Peregrines probably don’t have second thoughts;
…who knows if I will?

They also stoop a lot faster than 120mph!

Is it reasonable grounds for divorce when your partner views a full moon from the southern hemisphere and wonders how different it would look from back home in the northern hemisphere?

I think it is.
