The Atlantic & Vanity Fair only ever assign RFK Jr profiles to people who want to fuck him because nobody else can stomach the idea of lying to help him. He's an elderly nepobaby on a mission to kill as many children as possible before he dies, to leave the world more plague-ridden than he found it.

one of the reasons they do this is that aviation companies pay for an army of lobbyists to constantly assail and buy off MPs, and they're allowed to do it. my sister was one and the UK government gave her a parliamentary pass to pop in any time she felt like it.
"It’s ludicrous that aviation doesn’t pay fuel tax, especially now that Rachel Reeves is making noises about a tax on electric vehicles. If we’re looking for easy wins for revenue, just look to the skies."

university fees #TomorrowsPapersToday

Oh look, my university's about to lose £21 million because Labour want to appease some mythical racists who won't vote for them anyway.
These are HEPI estimates of the 20 institutions affected: I think this illustrates the impact if the tariff is absorbed in full by institutions.

What share of the 6% tariff different universities may try to pass on to fees - or the impact might be on demand if they did - is not publicly known.

Today is the 4th anniversary of the worst ever tragedy in the Channel.

At least 27 men, women & children drowned in the freezing water, & 4 more have never been found.

Since then, neither we nor the French have done a thing to offer people in this situation with real solutions.

universities got a tiny fee rise that was immediately wiped out by the national insurance raises. they used international student fees to subsidise capped domestic fees and now that’s going to be taken away too. universities are going to collapse and thousands of jobs will go with each collapse.

Randomly, the two times I've ever been in Madrid were both on Black Friday, on consecutive years before and after they did the big pedestrian friendly redesign of Gran Via. Packed both years but was a huge difference in how pleasant it was to be there.

There are some truly unhinged bits in the piece about Glasman, as to be expected when dealing with Glasman, but seriously what the actual? That's...one hell of a conflation of terminology.

This isn’t true! Regulated fares have always been set by the government, regardless of operator!
Train fares frozen: not happened for decades.

Bringing rail back into public ownership means we can take action on fares.
