When you believe that everything that matters is Online, you will inevitably miss crucial information from that pitiless old bitch that is tangible reality.

It's a lot like confidently walking into a forest full of hungry tigers at night, because you see, you don't believe in tigers.

We live in an age where the Internet and LLMs are encouraging ever more people to reject reality entirely.

Here's my thoughts on why this is happening, and why the Terminally Online turn amongst the powerful is so dangerous.
Rejecting Reality in the Age of AI
The Internet and AI are encouraging more and more people to deny reality itself. Here's why that's bad.

Hugh Laurie twice at restaurants in NOLA and Hollywood and the second time he stared at my rack (not lamb). But age appropriate and I was wearing a fetching sweater so fair play.
Right folks. Feeling rather down at the moment so bringing back an oldie

Is the Santa letter courtroom reveal in “Miracle on 34th Street” the best courtroom reveal in movie history? If you say no, it’s because you can’t handle the truth.

My quick and dirty thoughts on Trump's short-sighted, stupid, and self-defeating ban on foreign made drones.

Banning foreign drones won't make us safer. Instead, it'll encourage people to build their own drones - which are way harder to track and to control.
The USA Bans Foreign-Made Drones, in Trump's Grand Idiot Tradition
It's December 23rd, and the USA has officially banned the import of all foreign made drones and "critical components." Here's a very quick and dirty run-down of my thoughts. Although if you'd like t...

I like Governor Newsom's initiative: Don't get mad and gnash your teeth and pull out your hair, do something about their insane policies. Cal. has the right idea, hopefully more states will follow.

A cool result of everything having AI in it now is there are a bunch of buttons on every application that I have to be careful to never push, and everything takes five more seconds to load during which there's an animation of bonzi buddy thinking really hard

My brother, who is a HS English teacher and a softball coach, keeps aluminum bats in his classroom just in case.

Years ago, I would thank my lucky stars I didn’t live in Sarajevo, but, well, here we are.

We don’t have to live like this.
Each semester I go in my classroom and I try to figure out what we would use to block the doors, if it would be safe to crawl out the windows, where we could hide if there was a mass shooter in campus. It’s such an indictment of this country how we have normalized these preventable tragedies.

It is important to be very careful when using the words "adult" and "toy" to search for something. Really quite exceedingly careful. In fact, you might just want to rethink the whole thing.
