Israel does not believe any other country in the region has any right to sovereignty, or borders, or airspace, or protection from the Israeli military. Israel's posture, aka Israel's illegal occupation of Syrian territory and its repeat attacks towards Syria, is entirely consistent with this.

Part of the 30% cut that Valve takes is the implicit agreement that they'll protect developers from the hassle of dealing with individual payment providers, and if they're not actually willing to go to bat for us, why are we paying them so much again
Saw someone cite the Collective Shout thing and payment processors in regards to the Horse situation and say "Valve can't fight them by itself", and I think we maybe shouldn't be defending multi-billion dollar companies for arbitrary takedowns of artistic works and acting like they're the little guy

No, you don't gotta hand it to them. You don't need to moderate between "more AI" and "even more AI." Reject the false framing and just live your goddamned life already.

I've long criticised the dehumanising and patriarchal partner income test embedded everywhere in the Australian welfare state. The tax on love really does hurt families, and has a real impact on relationship formation or termination.

Labor are sneaking through extraordinary powers to let police and ASIO cut peoples welfare if they’ve been charged with a crime.

This is an unacceptable power grab, and will harm families and partners of people reliant on payments to survive.

Everyone has the right to be treated as innocent until proven guilty in this country, no matter what.

Labor pulled this seemingly out of nowhere. Yet welfare changes designed by the Robodebt Royal Commission 2+yrs ago to limit harms to welfare recipients, they’ve just rejected.

Chatbots — LLMs — do not know facts and are not designed to be able to accurately answer factual questions. They are designed to find and mimic patterns of words, probabilistically. When they’re “right” it’s because correct things are often written down, so those patterns are frequent. That’s all.

Whenever people complain about the number of folks relying on food stamps, it is worth reminding them that SNAP is, by too large of a degree, a subsidy for corporations that refuse to pay a living wage and their political allies who reject public policy prescriptions to reduce income inequality.

It is government policy for at least 4% of people to be unemployed at all times.

When there are not enough unemployed people, they punish mortgage holders with interest rate increases until the economy gets bad enough that people start losing their jobs again.
Labor's employment minister rep admits that payment suspensions "cause harm", but they're "an important part" of the (unlawful) mutual obligations system, because

"At the end of the day we want ppl to get off payments and find a job"

gross 'best form of welfare is a job' stuff from the ALP here

I also think Jay's position that "we're just an engineering project" is deeply uneducated at best & given that she's a smart person, more likely just extraordinarily disingenuous. Technology is a social phenomenon and the ATP has been designed specifically for a social network. It's a people thing.
