Coolest trpg I’ve read since You Will Die in This Place. Authorial voice with attitude carries the setting and themes.
Even in the cultivation genre, the setting is unique. Mechanics look great, but I’d need to play. It's not like other games I've played. Maybe a bit of 4e with osr sensibilities
SWORDS UP, WANDERERS.
THE PEOPLE ARE WAITING.
MAKE SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL HAPPEN.
WE ARE ON YOUR SIDE.

10,000 SWORDS AGAINST HEAVEN is an Ultraviolent Tropical Gothic Xianxia RPG. Martial artists and mystics wander and survive a Buddho-Communist Dark Fantasy world. Out for free!👇🏽

This is an evolution of my insistence that cool shit is coming from post-OSR and storygame people listening to each other, and often that shit ends up looking remarkably larp-like.

Magic flutes and enchanted lutes, wizard battles in lightning storms, and a whole menagerie of puppet animals and creatures alongside wire fu sorcery warfare incorporating prehistoric digital experimentation. Just more and more of that strange harmony between the weird and the dreamlike.

My End of Year video is on the "Golden Age of Indie RPGs," from roughly 2010 to 2025. I start with Apocalypse World's release, work through the Google+ Era, and follow design lineages and historical events that have impacted the hobby up through 2025.

Just got this gem of a backer award from the good folks at @tidalwavegames.com . Not only is it great material for the massively fun Draw Steel, but this really takes me back in a good way to the zines I read when I first got into gaming in the 80s.

I always enjoy Thomas Manuel's interviews (he's one of the best interviewers in the biz), but the one with Emily Allen in the latest Yes Indie'd podcast was especially compelling.

These tiny Blackhack spell books solve one of the biggest pickup and play barriers in d&d forks. I love them.

I've put together a pack of Nominees and Publishers for the 2025 ENNIE Awards. Authors, Artists, Editors, Layout, Sound Engineers and Companies - if I could find the Bluesky, it's in here.
Best Monster will need to be separate as its a Monster-sized (lol) list.

Last year, I ran 'Home' by ‪@scott-wegener.bsky.social‬ . System-neutral (I used for pf2e) toolkit. Guides you through setting up local area hexcrawl + creating settlement that levels up alongside PCs. Great start point. Will use again for future DS games.

Reposting the last comment of the thread rather than the first because I find long threads easier to read that way. Based on Jay's description I don't think I have the mental space to read this game right now, but it sounds like something we all *should* read.

I got frustrated with spotify's AI playlist feature only showing me songs I already listen to. So I tried asking for "Play me songs with under 1000 listens from last year". My message failed to send and I got this response back.

Played Alice is Missing.
I recommend it for innovation in trpgs. We had a ok time. Never figured out what was expected of us. Where is the boundaries of creativity vs what is per-established by the game.
Everyone seemed interested in playing more. Booklet advises trying it with different groups.
