REMINDER: War Crimes committed on soil of a signature nation to the International Criminal court expose those committing crimes to the jurisdiction of the ICC--even if their own country is not a member. Venezuela is a member of the ICC. Thus, Trump can and MUST be prosecuted at The Hague

And there ya have it…

Officials from top Wall Street firms will be traveling to Venezuela to investigate “investment prospects” of the country. “The trip will feature about 20 officials from the finance, energy and defense sectors.”
Finance Industry Eyes Investment Opportunities in Venezuela

Trump has committed an act of war
by kidnapping the leader of another country.

At *any* other time in our history,
Congress would be holding an
emergency session right now.

Not tomorrow. Not in the next hour.

Right now.

Kidnapping a foreign leader invites other countries to do the same. The Trump administration just handed China and Russia permission on a silver platter, risking global stability and putting American lives in jeopardy.

It's crystal clear: a pending criminal indictment does NOT cure the clear illegality of this attack under int'l law. It violated the UN Charter in just the same way Russia's attack on Ukraine did. And unlike our 1989 Panama invasion, there seems not even a pretense of a threat to Americans there.
Vance pushes back and says this was not illegal, arguing "Maduro has multiple indictments in the United States for narcoterrorism. You don't get to avoid justice for drug trafficking in the United States because you live in a palace in Caracas."

As we watch the Trump admin fly into a capital and abduct/arrest a head of state, it’s worth remembering that he’s frequently called for American governors and mayors to be arrested for their supposed coddling of gangs of narco-terrorists.

Im seeing discussions about consultations with congress, authorizations of force etc. I have to say this transcends any of what I would call sub constitutional technicalities. The president has gone to war with a foreign power and, it seems, kidnapped a foreign head of state on the basis of nothing.

María Machado won the last election in Venezuela by a landslide only to be targeted by Nicholas Maduro, who stole the election from the people of Venezuela.

If Trump really cared about democracy or human rights, he would have already invited Machado back. Instead, he declared that he will not.

Looks like he was lying because she just went on TV to express support for Maduro and say "we will never again be slaves ... we will never again be a colony of any empire, whatever its nature.”
