One day I will figure out how social media works. Natural born killjoy, self-indulgent nerd.
Note: "virtually unprecedented" here is a nice way of saying "very illegal."
🚨BREAKING: Federal prosecutors admitted Wednesday that the grand jury handling the criminal case against former FBI Director James Comey never reviewed or voted on the final indictment used to charge him — a virtually unprecedented revelation that could topple the entire case.
In Stunning Admission, DOJ Says Grand Jury Never Saw Indictment Against Comey

If I saw this behavior in a store I would assume they were trying to harvest my kidneys.
"Store employees are now required to smile if they are within 10 feet of a shopper.

They also must make eye contact with and wave to or greet the customer.

If they’re within four feet, the employee should ask how the customer’s day is going or if they need help."

🙄 Won't stop the boycott, y'all.
Target is now requiring its employees to smile more
As the holiday season fast approaches, Target is urging its employees to add a little more “jolly” to their work routine.

It can often feel like there's a whole lot outside our control.

But if there's any kind of election in your town today, that's a way to make a meaningful difference in your state or local affairs.
Today I’m voting for school board. Keep the local MAGA out. Keep the ABA teacher with no real information about her out too (IYKYK).

Your local election for boards and judges and funding and so forth really do matter. Go vote!

This man is going to probably fire a whole bunch of support staff and then wonder why there isn't enough food, fuel, or spare parts to actually put boots on the ground or planes in the air.
Hegseth: "We unleash overwhelming and punishing violence on the enemy. We also don't fight with stupid rules of engagement. We untie the hands of our warfighters to intimidate, demoralize, hunt, and kill the enemies of our country. No more politically correct and overbearing rules of engagement."

More than 1800 detainees are missing after the closure of Alligator Alcatraz. Their families and lawyers can’t find them and they’ve vanished from the ICE database. Feels like this should be a much bigger story www.miamiherald.com/news/local/i...
Hundreds of Alligator Alcatraz detainees drop off the grid after leaving site
As of the end of August, the whereabouts of two-thirds of more than 1,800 men detained at Alligator Alcatraz during the month of July could not be determined by the Miami Herald.

I recall an article from, like, a year or two back, where an AI exec talked about how it was basically impossible to keep CSAM out of their training data, and I feel like that should've been a bigger red flag at the time.

Pretty clear illustration of "you may as well stand up for what you believe in, they're coming for you anyway."

Becoming increasingly clear we’re gonna have to build a parallel infrastructure for all the media we really love. The reason all of this is happening under the color of law is hyperconsolidation, dissent being traded straight up for merger approval, or fear of harassment.

If you're represented by a Democrat in either chamber, call their offices and demand they do more than this weak shit.
Government funding is the one card congressional Democrats have to play, and one they could and should use to push back against Trump's authoritarianism.

What's their big demand?

RFK Jr's resignation? Reforms in ICE? Stand down of National Guard?

NOPE.

This is the line that Dems need to push. It can't be simply. "Political violence is bad" it MUST be "Political violence is bad and Trump and his ilk are responsible for creating conditions ripe for political violence"
Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker (D) on the shooting of Charlie Kirk:

"Political violence, unfortunately, has ramped up in this country ... I think there are people who are fomenting it in this country. I think the president's rhetoric often foments it."
September 10, 2025 at 7:56 PM
The shooting of Charlie Kirk is entirely horrific and terrible, but it is also the entirely predictable outcome of Charlie Kirk's own professed beliefs and policies.

He was comfortable saying what he did because, I suspect, he simply believed he would never be in the firing line.

it’s great too that when district courts follow the law as written, one of the chuds on the Supreme Court pops up to scold them for not treating trump like a very special boy
I mean what on earth are district court judges supposed to do at this point other than get the message from SCOTUS to let Trump do whatever he wants to no matter what the law says.
