I'm hardly the first person to note this, but it's enormously instructive that our President and his followers saw the message "THE ONLY THING MORE POWERFUL THAN HATE IS LOVE" and understood it, correctly, as an attack on them
What a moment.

1) The Obvious Scam
2) Three Chatbots in a Trench Coat
3) We're Calling it AI for the Investors

NEW: A federal judge in Oregon issued a sweeping rebuke of the Justice Department’s nationwide push to seize state voter rolls, ruling that the department can no longer be presumed to be acting in good faith and warning that its conduct threatens voters and states’ rights.
Federal judge rules DOJ can ‘no longer’ be trusted in voter roll crusade
The judge pointed to a letter from Bondi to Minnesota that tied federal immigration enforcement to demands for voter data as the smoking gun.

The Rime of the Ancient Mariner by Iron Maiden is a good pick here. Another Brick in the Wall (Part 2) also technically qualifies.
Deleted a post about “what’s your least favorite song” because the vibes are bad enough already.

Instead: what’s your favorite song that has a long title, say at least 6 words long?

Mine: “Elderly Woman Behind the Counter in a Small Town” (Pearl Jam)

Oh man, it's been a while since we had a good old fashioned Catholic schism. Feels almost nostalgic at this point.

sometimes i think about that thing a disco elysium dev said in response to someone asking why choosing fascist options lowers your morale. that being a fascist is miserable, since it requires you to believe that you are being dominated by the weak and unworthy in everything you do.

As a Canadian, what I've learned so far:

- Minnesotans are very nice and VERY organized
- Mainers are aggressively xenophobic but in a way that lCE will not like
- Philadelphians crave the blood of their enemies
- LA is ground zero for chaos tactics that never lose
- New Yorkers love gay hockey

As power outages extend, people may find themselves using portable generators for the first time.

If you are a new generator owner, you may not realize how much carbon monoxide a generator can produce. It's enough carbon monoxide to kill in minutes.

A few months ago, ICE hired me

I didn't sign and submit any paperwork. I almost certainly failed the drug test. I'm real outspoken about my opposition to the Trump administration, and I am extremely googlable

And yet, there it was, in plain English. "Welcome to ICE!"

You’ve Heard About Who ICE Is Recruiting. The Truth Is Far Worse. I’m the Proof.
What happens when you do minimal screening before hiring agents, arming them, and sending them into the streets? We're all finding out.

Occasionally as a litigator you run across an opposing party who repeatedly breaches contracts and settlement agreements and legal requirements — just never abides by them. Generally competent lawyers point out that you shouldn’t do business with or enter contracts with that person.

I know this is, like, a fourth order concern considering everything else going on, but Trump can't adequately administer to country he is supposed to be the President of. How can anyone reasonably expect him to "administer" Venezuela?
