I’m going to attempt a reading project for 2026.

The theme is: Abstract Realities, Philosophical Fictions, and Social Satires.

If you have any suggestions that fit with this theme—it can be anything: novels, plays, poetry, essays, whatever—I’m all ears.

This is what I get for marathoning Nightmare on Elm Street and going to a Jodie Mack retrospective.

Well, this sucks.
Well folks, some news. Ownership is folding @pghcitypaper.com. I wish I could say this was more surprising. I'll be on the lookout for new roles while I continue to teach and hopefully find places to publish some stories I haven't finished. In the meantime, I'm all ears for opportunities.

post a perfect album from the 90s that isn't nirvana, pearl jam, soundgarden, or Alice In Chains.

Still beyond excited that I got to see them play this live this summer.

This was my big gift to my wife this year: a KidPix machine. She didn’t have a computer growing up, but when she was in the computer lab at school, she’d just play in KidPix the whole time. 🧵

Christian Clothing Designer: Sure did, boss. Real fuckin’ ominous and with an implied threat of mass murder, just like you asked.

I went down to the Vinegar Syndrome store on my lunch break to find that they had sold out of this one within 4 minutes of opening the store.

Really hoping for a reprint, @vinsyn.bsky.social🤞🙏

I just watched a video about a solarpunk economy built around the concept of the library. I think I can get behind that. I’ve often thought about how wasteful it is that everyone has to individually buy and maintain expensive tools and things.

You may see people advising you to grab WB-owned titles on physical media and you may wonder if this is overreacting.

It isn't. Movie studios have always put preservation and convenient availability last, outright junking films that they no longer value.

Being a movie fan is rife with stress.

I got to play test this and I think I can best describe it as: a story told in fragments and links, like a Wikipedia rabbit hole made into a narrative mystery adventure game. I really enjoyed it.

Today is the day to tell a strange story.

The long version we'll tell later, but the short version is this. In an attic, in his late great-uncle's house, @jon.inkle.co found a locked trunk. It took twenty years to open. Last summer he did.

Inside was a wiring diagram, and a stack of books.
