There's a fucking video of ICE mercing a driver on the timeline, turn off auto play NOW

(and seriously do not share that, come on, you do not need to boil yourself in trauma to feel like you're doing something)

If you do see it? IMMEDIATELY play Tetris for about 5 minutes. Research proves it out.

The best joke I've seen is that today isn't the secret final episode of Stranger Things, but actually the release of the secret final episode of BBC Sherlock. Moffat was behind it all along!
one of the strangest fandom culture moments is going down right now; a section of the Stranger Things fanbase have convinced themselves that the last episode wasn't the *real* finale, & that there are cryptic clues hidden in the background of the series hinting at a secret *real* finale to air today

This is a ridiculous but potentially intentional goal of the Online Safety Act

Everything "online" like Grok is now Ofcom's job to regulate - the Govt can wash its hands whenever it wants to avoid a difficult issue.

This isn't regulation of access, these need to be dealt with as sex crimes.
Keir Starmer's spokesman tells me that X and Grok's creation of sexual deepfakes of children is "completely unacceptable" but again won't commit to taking direct action against them, or to stop posting there.

Says "all options are on the table" but suggests it's a matter for Ofcom, not Government

I wrote essays on de Vitoria and the School of Salamanca. The Holy Roman Emperor wanted to know how to treat indigenous Americans.

It's not like International Relations as a discipline tries to hide the whole thing was "catholics trying to decide the moral course or action before God".

If you're reporting on the deepfake porn site because of Grok, please make clear in the headline that governments not acting are allowing the scaled abuse of women and children online.

Don't say Grok is doing that harm. Grok isn't doing anything. It's human men who are doing these things.

The idea that London has become less safe in recent years is quite strange - just look at how once "dangerous" areas have been transformed in recent years. Gentrification comes with its own issues but streets are packed with visitors and city far more welcoming than when I moved here a decade ago.

2) The London Labour party is well-organised and effective but it is also paranoid as hell. (Remember the 'Labour gloom shortly before winning a landslide third term as mayor' stuff? That was v well-sourced within the London Labour party). Has huge experience of close fights, is glum.

I think it's a couple of things 🧵:

1) I see no reason to believe that Savanta has fixed the industry-wide issues with polling ethnic minorities* and that this is probably inflating Labour's vote share in this poll a bit

*Basically getting too many mixed-race voters and too many British Indians
Labour vote in London polling is stubbornly sticky in the low 30s which might be enough to hold on in lots of places in the borough election. On the other hand, London Labour morale appears to me to be low and there’s talk of a near wipeout. Maybe that’s just temperamental pessimism?
Our latest Mile End Institute/Savanta London Poll is out!

Labour - 31%
Reform - 19%
Greens - 18%
Cons - 17%
LD - 13%
