The reason for a justice system, much like the reason for allowing peaceful protest, is that the alternative is deeply unpleasant.
It seems incredibly short sighted, to me, at least, for the Trump admin to ignore this reality. Unless they want that unpleasant alternative, of course.

Seeing people defend the ICE murderer online should end that comforting fiction. We can now see in real time how many people defend authorities doing evil because they're cowards.
