I get it. People are suffering, and some in the Senate feel that, and want to stop the suffering. But if the elections this past week taught them anything, it should be that standing the f up against the current administration is a good thing.

one last observation: donald trump has never won a majority of the vote and yet the political press treats him like the embodied spirit of the american people. will be interesting to see how they discount mamdani as representing new york if he wins less than a majority.

I assume GOP is doing this because they're labouring the delusion that they're hurting "those people" rather than their own voters.
The USDA is the fail safe for SNAP.
They have a contingency fund to ensure it’s covered in the event of a shutdown.
They’re refusing.
Grocery stores stepped up to try and help by offering discounts to any SNAP recipients and the USDA told them they had to stop.
Starvation as a policy choice.
