Frustrating to see people continuously discount or not even acknowledge the fact that Jewish women remain the second most liberal voting bloc in the entire country because everyone and their mother was predicting we’d vote for Trump because of Israel.

gonna be blunt, I really do not think it matters whether there is a successor to trump whenever/ he eventually leaves office. when he does leave, party apparatchiks will have total control of the judiciary, life terms, and will have done a ton of damage to the structures of democracy in the meantime
I have no idea where the Democrats go from here. Part of me thinks that the GOP won't be able to offer a convincing populist successor to Trump, who has benefited from decades in the public eye. But there is no doubt that this nativist version of the GOP is here to stay. Trump is Gen Z's Reagan.

i think that the people interested in recriminations and score settling right now aren’t seriously grappling with the magnitude of what happened and the implications for the rest of our lives. most of us will probably die living in the political order that will emerge out of this election.

The only consolation I’ve been able to come up with to feel the tiniest bit better is that Trump didn’t win any new votes. He won with essentially the same number he got in 2020. He won because of low turnout, not because everyone loves him. I still don’t feel better but oh well. I tried.
