It's finally done! As soon as I found this crochet pattern I knew I had to make one to match my actual bird! 🩶💚💙

This took months to finish, and I kept having to pause and wait for the next color to arrive, but I'm so thrilled with the end result! 🧶

When I started crochet, I would count stitches as I went, using stitch markers along the way in case I lost count.

Then I realized I could count out the stitches *first* and mark the end point. I can go much faster now 😅

Anyone else have similar craft-skill-unlocks?

happy new year, everyone. even in all the worst times in human history people have found joy, helped each other, and resisted the depredations of unaccountable power; and so can we. everything won't all be fine, but there will always be ways to make things better than they are.

Kojima can make good stuff with his full chest and characters named Otaku Convention and Die Hardman, you can do it too
it is legitimately a good piece of creative advice to be like "be as unabashedly into your own shit as hideo kojima is"

Also - many game designers originally studied or worked in different fields! It's all useful!
One of the single most important things for you to do as an artist is look outside your medium for references and inspiration

This is especially important with game design!

Everyone keeps saying bad politics means good art. That died in the late 90’s with skyrocketing rent. Your landlord killed it. Another reason to hate the bastard.

Where’s the next great music movement? At their day job on their third coffee with a mind full of hate but no energy to create.
As cost of living increases, as wages stagnate, as housing becomes more precarious, it becomes harder and harder to be able to spend all your time doing weird shit.

Whole ecosystems reliant on people doing weird shit, dry up as their habitat is burned for a billionaire's profit.

This place was built it large part by a wave of trans early adopters and it’s a fucking insult that the mods here are letting a deliberate troll like Singal set up shop here to bully and harass them.

This isn’t a hard call, guys. Not at all.

My partner and I had the absolute JOY of seeing @aabria.bsky.social AND @erikaishii.bsky.social absolutely bring down the tavern at @twentysidedtavern.bsky.social yesterday. I don't know if I ever laughed so much in one evening, and the energy was INCREDIBLE (and also very horny)

I thought the blinking warning signal was the hundreds of thousands of preventable deaths and bankruptcies in the world's wealthiest country. Crazy to hear that it's actually just when a single rich guy dies.
The brazen murder of a CEO in Midtown Manhattan—and the cheering reaction to his execution—amounts to a blinking-and-blaring warning signal for a society that has become already too inured to bloodshed, @adriennelaf.bsky.social writes. theatln.tc/ZRcsrreK

The collective lethargy and resignation that greets the mass bloodshed of schoolchildren, over and over again, is regarded as the usual course of firearm-culture-wars and political gridlock…but THIS is the “blinking-and-blaring warning signal”?

F*cking spare me.

this is why it’s important not to give up and grant Trump the presumption of success on everything he does

federal and state bureaucracy, and especially the interaction thereof, has so many avenues for delay or incompetence

the first question should be how can we gum this up
a useful thing to ask is how specifically does a rule or regulation or order go from issuance to implementation. for instance, trump has said that he will issue an executive order denying birth certificates and SSNs to the children of undocumented immigrants. okay. what happens next?

I haven't seen anyone point this out yet among the many dunks on this, but: being on Twitter doesn't make you more understanding of the "other side," it makes you less. It was designed to boost the dumbest, least sympathetic version of your enemies into your eyeline. That doesn't promote dialogue.

Stick clicks require strength and accuracy (to void involuntary movement), making them one of the first inputs people can't comfortably access on any controller when their mobility is limited.

Avoid them or leave room in your control schemes. A button existing does not mean it should be necessary.
Okei, be honest: does ANYONE find it comfortable with L3/R3 being used as "interact" in a game? Especially games where you need to interact a lot?

Or is it just me that find this trend massively annoying and painful?

Really great thread about prototyping, play testing, and finding the fun!

Learning when something is ready to playtest with *other game devs* vs ready to playtest with *players* is a crucial skill for game designers.
Why does 'finding the fun' fail so often as a design strategy?
#gamedesign

New designers are told to prototype and 'find the fun'. But the naive version of this is a garbage tactic that mostly results in poorly thought out prototypes that are never going to converge on gameplay.
