Important to understand the Epstein stuff and the fascism and the corruption are, in a lot of ways, really all the same story from different angles: powerful men who can and do abuse vulnerable people around them because they can, and because systems of elite accountability catastrophically failed

House Dems on oversight releasing these emails and controlling the narrative is the kind of shit republicans always do but they have to make shit up and mischaracterize their source material. The House Dems have proven my thesis that this can be done effectively without lying. Well done.

We must continue to stand with those who resist Trump’s lawlessness and call out those who don’t. Shame on Cornell.

I had a run in with ICE snatching a man out of his car while walking my children to school this morning in NW DC

I asked a neighbor to continue walking my kids to school and I turned back to document and confront the ICE agents.

I am in contact with @dcmigrantmutualaid.org with the full video.

Listen, my children, as here is unfurled
The story of the sandwich that was hurled
On the 10th of August in ‘25;
What a moment to be alive!

As many chose to look down and duck,
One man decided he had to stand up,
And so he wound up, and said ‘What the f___’
And gave his sandwich a freedom chuck.

The problem with a lot of pop leftism is it doesn't give the impression it wants to be part of a victorious bureaucracy, it gives the impression it wants to be part of a perpetually frustrated and powerless counterculture simmering in resentment in decaying flats.
The democratic socialist future of America will require millions of Leslie Knopes doing the thankless work of the bureaucracy required to provide services to the people. If you think people like her are "neoliberal shills," you're not really a democratic socialist, you're just a cosplayer.

If you tell your constituents that there are people you are willing to throw away, on some level they are hearing that, under future circumstances, they can be thrown away too. It’s abuser manipulation and there’s already a political party for people who want to live with that way.
For @msnbc.com I wrote about how Tuesday's election gives Democrats the blueprint for overcoming Republican anti-trans attacks and how thus should settle all the talk about throwing trans people under the bus.

Opinion | Democrats’ election wins showed they don't need to hide their support for trans rights
Republicans repeated Trump's anti-trans strategy from 2024 and lost big. This should be instructive for Democrats.

The lesson of Tuesday's elections is that the American people are better than this. And there damned sure will be accountability for these bastards when decent people are back in charge. But we will not tolerate or normalize this evil.

They are hiding behind the supremacy clause to protect the racist evil that they are spreading. They are protected by a cowardly Republican congress that refuses to even meet, much less to oversight. And a SCOTUS who has bastardized the Constitution to give Trump immunity.

Pelosi was great at whipping votes but pretty terrible at winning elections or constraining Trump. I think she’s largely responsible for the Dems’ conflict-avoidant anti-Trump strategy since 2019. It’s good she’s retiring, because we need a lot more of the constraining than the whipping right now

And not just the how, the why. Nobody respects “leaders” that allow their morals to be dictated by fear and polls and focus groups. People will vote for you even if they don’t agree with all your policies, as long as they believe you will actually fight for those policies.

UNTIL IT’S DONE, Ep. 4: Sylvia Rivera

In the 1970s, queer New Yorkers had been pushed to the margins of NYC. Our trans neighbors faced immense cruelty. But in Sylvia Rivera, they found a champion.

As we combat Trump’s politics of darkness, her legacy can light the path forward.
