We start our journey with the V franchise this week and tackle the question: is this show actually good or are we trapped within Gen X nostalgia? Current events have made it clear the show is quite good, imho.

The last six months of Brittany's life were hard, scary and painful. It was kindness that made them bearable, and it's the kindness I am trying to remember about those days.

The decline of right wing cultural production is just due to the fact that they don’t like culture, they like the signifiers of culture, ie “classic sculpture means white people are better.” They don’t like art at all except for this purpose. They don’t even like the nerd stuff they whine about

Elvis Presley was a big monty python fan and had an early VHS machine that he would watch them over and over and I'd like to see an Elvis impersonator do Elvis excitedly retelling his favorite sketches to Red and Sonny.

I don’t think it will win Best Picture or Best Actor, but I really loved “Train Dreams” and Joel Edgerton is absolutely amazing in it.

Also, love seeing Bryce Dessner, a member of one of my favorite bands (The National), getting a nomination for original song with Nick Cave.

So it's decided: Every documentary will begin with the subject getting miked in a sit-down interview, idle chit-chat with the offscreen director, and then cutting to the title card after they ask, "Have we started?"

Greg Bovino sadly filling one steamer trunk after another with elaborate fashy overcoats, the teargas canisters he always has bouncing around on him like labubus, and dozens of "chest-belts." They will be shipped ahead of him as he prepares to return to his home, which is a men's size 10 boot.

Anyone who disparages the idea of a man being a registered nurse is a scumbag. When I was recovering from quadruple bypass surgery, male and female nurses were part of the team that saved my life. Alex Pretti worked in the greatest of all professions.

Thank God there were people filming. This administration would have said Alex Pretti pulled a handgun, a package of fentanyl, and a signed copy of the Communist Manifesto if they could.

The Republican position now appears to be that you have a constitutional right to openly carry a gun in public, unless you do so while expressing a view that the government dislikes, in which case the secret police can shoot you to death on the spot.
Minneapolis police chief Brian O'Hara says that the victim was a 37-year-old white man and US citizen with no criminal record and that he was a legally permitted gun owner.
