As someone who previously worked for HRW, I can attest that the organization is extremely careful using the term “genocide.” They resisted applying it in Yugoslavia and Darfur. The fact that they use the term here is highly meaningful.

With news of a ceasefire deal for Lebanon being announced in the next 24 hours, the bombing in and around the capital has intensified to the highest degree.
They did the same in 2006, in the few days before applying the ceasefire, they just emptied their stockpile on Lebanon.

What is happening in the north is beyond comprehension, and the Israeli government and IDF have gone out of their way to ensure that the media has a hard time reporting it. Myself and @farrahfazal.bsky.social gathered some testimony, but it is one sliver of the horrors.
