Welp ... some breaking news on New Year's Eve:

On a podcast, NIH Director Bhattacharya says the agency will likely not renew grants that were reinstated as part of a court decision earlier this year

On the plus side the data they generate to identify new gestapo agents will be great for a terrorist watch list.
Exclusive: ICE officials plan to spend $100 million to recruit gun-rights supporters and military enthusiasts through online influencers and a geo-targeted ad campaign, part of what the agency called a “wartime recruitment” strategy to hire thousands of officers, according to an internal document.

Snapping and saying “thank you” in a snide voice while MTG gives the gas chamber operator feedback about capacity limits.

“Thank god some people around here will stand up for the rules!” I say, proud of having won something

What I enjoy about this is the sheer amount of money loss and pain he is enduring to look somewhat more like me, a Jewish Brooklyn academic, who of course is all that is man.
Decades of the white nationalist movement evolving to adapt to current political trends has brought them to this moment.

Look I got no objection to making these arguments in a poly sci class in 1999 but we’ve got 25 years of experience in how banal and stupid this, do you actually work in politics?
She helped pass a bill—which is 100% part of liberalism. Maybe you don’t like the bill. Maybe the bill will hurt some people and have bad outcomes. But that’s part of liberal democracy.

My opinion of the New York Times is distinctly outside the mainstream among journalists. Most think NYT is mostly excellent journalism with some flaws and blind spots, I think it's mostly a vehicle for laundering right wing propaganda with some excellent people who put out good work.
I just learned that this incredibly flawed story was put on the front page of the newspaper, and that certainly seems like an editorial choice
New, from me: The NYT reporter who specializes in profiles of beleaguered right-wingers on campus went to New College...and found out that things were going ok!

So let me explain some pretty massive errors of omission: 🧵

another day working at the japanese artificial mouth company. everyone keeps asking me if they can fuck the artificial mouth. buddy, they wont even let me fuck it
This is an artificial mouth created by Japanese researchers. It uses artificial vocal cords, a trachea system, and a flexible silicone mouth that moves and shapes sound in real time.

It sounds so human-like!

I’ve heard most journalists and politicians say that Trump hasn’t been directly accused of wrongdoing or implicated in the Epstein Files.

But, there are repeated instances of Trump being directly named as a perpetrator—by victims and by Epstein. It’s not circumstantial, it’s direct.

Not only is this Supreme Court order making it harder for President Trump to send national guard into American cities welcome, Justice Kavanaugh seems to want to pull back from his earlier concurrence where he suggested race and ethnicity could be the basis for immigration checks. Now he says this:

A bunch of commentators are busy qualifying this like “well what if it’s fake” and I submit to you that’s the whole problem, piles of piles of evidence exist on every vector and the reflex is to let him of the hook like “well what would constitute PROOF”
DOJ briefly uploaded this letter from Jeff Epstein to serial child molester Larry Nassar:
